There is a Rome, Texas. deep in the woods of south-central Texas. This would be a beautiful spot to have a gathering! However, I don't believe that there are any accommodations to offer the attendees -the place being so small.

I would definately like to shoot for sometime this summer. We are in Tulsa but we can make the drive to OKC if needed. Maybe we could all go to Frontier City for the day or something. Or there are some nice camping places around here for the weekend.

My husband is dying to go camping! BTW How's the weather there? I know you've just gotten quite a bit of stormy weather. Is it any cooler than here? I know when we go 5 hrs to Houston the weather changes immensely.
What's Frontier City?

It is rainy here. Kind of dreary but I of course love it!!! It does cool things off a little. Have the door open wide. Fun to watch the crazy cat sit on the porch and scowl cause its too wet to go tromp in the flower bed!!
Frontier City is a little amusement park...a mini six flags if you will. Ok very mini but at least you can ride all the rides and see most everything in one day.

Hmmmmmm .... Sherry and I talked, very briefly about camping and came to the mutual conclusion that it would have to be done in a motel room ;) . I have a couple of items that are related to my disability that require electricity and Sherry doesn't like to camp. That makes that decision a piece of cake. I do know about Frontier City and there are several small motels and such nearby, mostly to accommodate the nearby General Motors training center.
Frontier City is a fun little place and it would be cool to have a get together there.

Hi all!
Frontier City could be fun. They have a lot of concerts there too.My problem is I don't drive. But if anyone cares to pick up a hippie,I live right off of I-35 about 1 mile south of OKC.I could definitely contribute monetarily to the trip,if it's in Tulsa,or OKC.(I voted OKC)

Well, I am sure we could pick you up. Do you not drive because you are too young? If so we would, of course, have to have your parents permission in the traditional written in stone signed in blood fashion.;)

Frontier City is owned by the same outfit that owns Six Flags & White Water. It's kinda like Six Flags, only dinky (still costs about as much, though).

PS Yes, there are good places in OKC, like the Rose Garden area at Will Rogers Park. We've also got our new canal, & the Bricktown area downtown is great for after-hours. If you're near DFW, you can take the train now; a nice little trip, reasonably priced... How about the Runestone State Park In Heavener, OK? A little off the beaten track & accomodations are a short drive away, but a really nice place. Of course, there's always the Springs at Sulphur (not as smelly as it sounds), Roman Nose State Park, & the parks & lodges at Lake Eufala & Quartz Mountain, & the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge near Lawton. I'm not very familiar with Tulsa (my HoneyGirl's family lives there, but I get lost when we go), but there are some great places along the Arkansas River, & I know that a Tulsa Pagan group meets regularly in... Owens Park? So we should be able to find someplace in our fair state to host a "regional". :)

Frontier city sounds nice. I don't like the tall, fast rides and my daughter is only 8. Camping is nice too but I would love to meet Bluecat and Sherry. Brightstar I'll be coming right up I-35, I still need to talk to my hubby though. I was going to tell him about it last night but forgot, I was too sleepy. 8O We have plenty of room in our '74 VW bus.
I can't make it any sooner than the weekend of June 23rd. I'm going out of town this weekend, can't the next, and the next is Father's day. Then its Solstice Weekend but our celebration is on Thurs so we have that free. Oops, I've got to talk to my MIL, she's supposed to take my daughter for a couple of weeks but I don't know when yet. OK so that's my schedual for June, so far.

Rick,
Funny you get lost in Tulsa because I get very lost in OKC. I can't find my way anywhere..... but I am female so I am programed to ask for directions when needed. So if we do it there you will most definately be in charge of directions/ coordination!!! Like the way I nominated you there!??!?!
Maybe we could even book some rooms at a nearby motel at a good group rate if we do it in advance enough. That way the non-campers can join in. Just think how much trouble we could get into with adjouning rooms. Slumber party!!!!!

Let me check some hotels in the area. Do we want a meeting room? If we book X number of rooms, we might get one thrown in, or if we book a meeting room, we might get a discount on the rooms. Will let ya know...
(At least in OKC, I don't have to figure which side of the Mississippi a city is on, so that I know which side of town the street named for that city might be located.) :)

Rick,
Sounds like a plan to me. I guess we need to find out how many Okies and those near by are interested and pick a date...then we can better plan for the accomodations!! I will bring along a digital camera and maybe video as well. This will definately be a family affair to remember!!

After looking over the situation concerning a good gathering time for the wicca family, and after doing some calculations, I would say that the best time for a social gathering will be during the week of July 21- 28, this year. I have set the chart for Tulsa, Okla, but OKC would also be acceptable. The strongest geographical area would be west of Tulsa. OKC would provide a little better location, although the benefits there may not be enough to make a change from Tulsa. Weatherwise, it could be a bit rainy during that time.

Both are a bit too far away for us soggy Northwesterners to come to. But a big central gather... I've never been east of Nevada, save for a plane trip to Illinois about 24 years ago. I've actually heard there are some great places in New Mexico. But I'd vote for Springtime (Perhaps during Spring Break?) to avoid hot weather.
By the way, Western Washington is very Lovely in the Spring and Summer. (Grin)
