View Full Version : House cleansing...???

A former room mate of mine (she moved out over a year ago) was here a couple of months ago to look at the very same room she lived in while she lived here. The guy who was currently living there showed it to her and she said...

"The wallpaper has to be taken down, the walls have to be painted with thick white paint, and then scrubbed with rose water (maybe she even said "rosebud water") to cleanse the room from negative energies".

Umm... comments?

(I know there are house cleansing rituals one can do - and I fully believe in them - but I thought this one was... a bit weird).

I've never heard of using rose water (rather then super hot salt water), and I'd probably scrub the walls before repainting, but otherwise it seems reasonable. Scrubbing down and removing past paper or paint and putting new paint up (white for purity is good, as here, but not absolutely necessary) is an excellent way to completely cleanse a room, especially when you take up all the carpets and scrub the floor as well.

The last time I helped painting a room, we just removed the paper that could be removed... and the room was definitely not painted with "thick paint"... I agree that few things feel as fresh as a newly decorated room, but I though her thoughts was a bit to the extreme... lol

On the other hand... she has always been a bit weird...

*shrugs* The paint thing isn't weird or unusual, really. I've read of repainting the room to change the energies in several places. If you mean that it's thickly painted, well it wouldn't matter to me (presumably the thicker paint blocks residual energies from sticking to the walls, or protects the room from any energy still stuck in the walls?), but I can see the logic behind it :)

I know, I know, I was thinking more about the "thick paint" and especially the "scrubbing with rose water" (which would be done after the re-painting).

Well, kinda odd, but....
Rose is a protective herb in the old county as my Mum used to say.

DYI says to remove the paper before painting or you risk the paper and the paint job peeling off the walls. ( It happens, really.)

She may be concerned the residual of her energies and such remain there and that someone else may use them or understand them all too well.

My 2 cents.
