So, I've pretty much been one of Apollo's children for many years, but lately, I've been delving into my ancestral deities, and Mr. Mac Lir has been wrapping his scaly tendrils around me. I've traced my grandfather's people to the Isle of Man, which is His domain, and I just can't get Him out of my mind.
I've read His stories, and I do adore Him in his own right. Does anyone else in MW land appreciate Him? What does He say to you?
As far as my own path, I do consider myself a Druid, a female one at that, so tell me what you've heard!

Well I live a little to far inland for the sea to really feature. But, Manannan does feature in a few things. He also has otherworld connections as some of them are said to be islands in the western sea, the example that comes to mind is the Island of Women. His also has a few handy magical items like the cloak of forgetfullness, which was used on Fand. Since he does proside over the sea he would be some to ask to protect you if you plan to travel over the water, if thats any kind of issue for you. As far as female druids, I fail to see anything odd with that seeing as how there has been female druids since who knows when.

Thank you! Not sure why I pointed out my gender. I need to hang up my internet keys once I've had a couple drinks.
I grew up on the banks of a very large river, and live there still, albeit on the other side. It's seriously flooded right now, but once things get back to normal, I will go and make an offering. It's the closest thing I've got to the sea!

he is also considered to be a psychopomp. one time i went to a beach to honor him (and Dylan)about an hour later the life guards and beach protrol were looking for two girls who were dragged out to sea. one was pushed to the beach and the other far away.never found her body.

I don't have a big relationship with him, but say a prayer, and make an offering every time I'm by the sea. Manannán mac Lir, (son of the sea) the sea is his domain(and otherworlds associated with it&land nearby-Innis/Oileán Mhanainn ) in which he rules, but he isn't the sea itself, but a mariner. No matter where you are in Ireland, the furthest away from the sea is about 3 1/2 hours ;)

What an alluring god of mist and water. I always sort of thought of him and was a littl drawn to him but i've never worked with him i think. It's been a while since i've actively worked with deities or directly invoked them in a circle. I think though that since you also have an ancestral connection to him you should research him more both outside and inside and reach out/in to him. :)
About what Meadhbh said, it is very strange to me how people can live so far from the sea. I mean for example if you live in the center or in general inland in the US or Asia you need to travel thousands of miles to reach the sea or the ocean. It's very strange to me because i live in Greece and wherever you are the sea is a couple of hours away. I am starting to appreciate this little country that includes everything, when it comes to nature. hehe
