So I was visiting the Museum of Mediterranean Archaeology in Marseille, FR when I glanced upon what is probably the most captivating, life size statue I've ever seen. Photos aren't allowed but I could not resist. I can't find any photos of it online either, and if Google Image Search is any indication this is a very unique representation of the Egyptian Goddess Neith.

I never heard of her before today. I'd never payed much attention to the Egyptian pantheon. Here is her Wiki page. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neith)

It was one of those situations where if you stare long enough at a statue you feel as if it will come to life, wink or raise an arm to you. After looking at it too long I had to look away.
Perhaps all that was because it was life-size (I have the same problem with wax statues, but instead of being captivated by them I'm terrified of them! :nyah:)

After reading about her I can see why I would like her.... she's basically Hera/Artemis/Athena all in one.

All I can say is that I felt something from/with that statue and it was amazing...

Anyone else ever get that? lol

Neith is awesome!

You might find this helpful:Neith/Nit/Net {Goddess of the Week} (http://mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?168157-Neith-Nit-Net-Goddess-of-the-Week)

I have other links too. I should add them to the DoTW thread, laters.
There are a few books that talk about her and her origins and relations with Athene, too.
Here's one of them (http://www.amazon.com/Cult-Divine-Birth-Ancient-Greece/dp/0230614779).

Anyone else ever get that?
Yes, I have before.
I'll share later, when I have more time (gotta go through new registrations right now). :-]

I have gotten that before. It wouldn't surprise me if that statue was open. Which would cause it to feel alive, because in essence, it is.

Neith, is Great! The Moment of the Dark Moon is her Time. The Sea is her repository; Wisdom and Purity are her favored attributes.
