View Full Version : Lotions/creams using Lecithin?

I've been wanting to make my own lotions and creams for a while. Problem is, my standards for ingredients are so high that I refuse to even use emulsifying wax, even if it's vegetable-derived, because I just don't feel right about it.

I was poking around on the website for Mountain Rose Herbs when I came across their lecithin products. The description mentioned that they have emulsifying properties, and I thought of trying to make some lotion or cream using them. (because last time I tried to make cream using a recipe that didn't call for emulsifying wax, borax (which I also dislike), or lecithin... let's just say it didn't work out.)

Can anyone recommend or share some good recipes using lecithin?

Thanks very much!

I... don't understand. What do you have against emulsifying wax?

It's produced with the use of chemical solvents and Mountain Rose says it 'cannot be considered a benign natural additive.' And I looked it up on Skin Deep and didn't like what I read.

Do you use it?
