I did that for a few hours... and then I decided to take a nap, hoping MW would be back up when I woke up. Two hours later I woke up, and MW was still down... so I watched a movie. But MW was still down when the movie ended. :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek:

Glad to know I'm not the only crazy person here.

I passed my time doing tarot readings on some other forums I frequent, with nearly quarter-hourly checks to see if MW was back up. hehehe I wasn't sure if it was my connection, so I even made a few of my friends check too ;)

Noticed the outage, yes.

At the same time, I couldn't reach Hotmail (the Pagan Geek forum said Hotmail was down, yes, and very seriously so), couldn't reach Microsoft (not really trying, but they usually have a reliable connection), couldn't reach Amazon.com, my connection to Tripod.com was SLOW but still on-air.

So I guessed any transatlantic connection was dropped. (I could reach almost any European site.) Now, that got me worried. No internet connection to some major sites? Someone raged a cyber-attack and finally did pull the plug? Denial of service to the max?

No, not yet. Much relieved ;)

Never try to judge the status of the Internet based on the performance of Microsoft or RIAA websites. :p That's well-established.

Actually, I did a couple pings of mysticwicks when I first noticed it was down, and a tracert. They all went through, though I admit the packet loss rate was about 10% or so on the pings, when I sent 1024b packets. **Shrugs** Not sure what to make of that; but I'm glad it's fixed!

Been there..... a year ago Hydro was out here digging and cut the main cable and it took out the power to half the houses for three blocks... no comp, no music, no heat.. I was thrilled:p
