What a wonderful site! I will be glad when I can settle down and focus on this wonderful forum. Life has been more then nuttier lately and last nights events finished me.

I've had trouble with the guy across the street from me for years. Drug addict and asonist when the mood strikes him. He's been out of the pen for a few mths and heading bk into same routine.

Last night he set his yard on fire, close to the fenceline. I am on the other side of the road and I've realized the reason he does this is to disguise the odor of something else that hes cooking. I call the law, they try to act concern, do very little. The fire truck come as it has spread to anothers yard.

Our cat Simba, came through the fire. I saw her jump off a fence post so I opened the door but no Simba. I thought the fire trucks scared her. She came in later singed very badly but as far as I can tell it did not reach her skin. Shes a very long haired orange tabby, who will not stay away from the neighbors. I know she is visiting that place with her own agenda. I've asked her to stop. Do I sound crazy?

Shes still pretty nervous and drinking alot of water. Is there anything else I can do for her? I need to recharge our "protection". Guess I just needed to share, knowing someone will understand.

Blessings...

First...Welcome to MW.

I'm sorry to hear about your kitty. I'm glad she came through it okay. I woud say, just to be safe, bring her to the vet. Also, could it be possible to bring her down to the Police station as "proof" of your neighbor's activities??? Surely a singed cat, along with the records of the numerous phone calls to the fire department and the police can show that your neighbor is up to no good.

Simba's drinking alot of water??? More than usual? She may have a little smoke inhalation. My Mom years ago had a fire at her house and I was taking care of her kitty and she had smoke inhalation and was drinking alot of water and then she started to make coughing noises. Keep an eye on her and if she starts to cough, take her to the vet!!!

Oh and MM and Welcome!!

Welcome. potter (((((& a pat for Simba)))))

Start documenting everything your arsonist neighbor does weird or wrong...dates, times, witnesses, etc. Take pictures/videos if you can, & if you think the arsonist won't get angry/weird enough to retaliate against you, do it so he knows he is being watched (but be careful, sweetie!).
Talk to your neighbors. Chances are that somebody else noticed what the arsonist has been up to, & you are not the only one in the neighborhood who is concerned.
Call the police on their non-emergency line, explain the situation, & ask if there is a neighborhood liason officer or someone who specializes in neighborhood problems that you can talk to. If there is, you might want to hold a coffee meeting at your home so the officer can hear what you & the neighbors are concerned about & advise you how to handle the problem. At least it will let the police know that you are not going to let the arsonist terrorize you in your homes.
Keep Simba inside. If the wacko across the street is into arson, G*d/dess knows what else he's into, or will get into. Simba will adjust.
Good Luck, & keep us posted. Here's some positive energy coming your way.
