I posted this in the Anouncement Forum but I thought this was important enough to post here too.
I was e-mail this earlier today.
I know this is not a usual request, But We the people of Yahoo's Pagan Sanctuary ask that you run this at least once on your announcement list to help get the word out. It is an event, being it is a holiday celebrated all over the world, It lasts only one day, and here are the particulars; In a few weeks people all over the land will be celebrating St. Patrick's Day. A man who is celebrated for the "miracle" of chasing all the snakes out of Ireland. What many may not know is the term snake is a metaphor for the Pagan people of Ireland. Many died or were driven out of their land in the name of their beliefs. To this end we are asking that all Pagans wear a small snake on St. Patrick's Day as a remembrance of those who were persecuted for their Pagan beliefs. Here are some ideas if you do not own a pin or charm temporary tattoo small plastic snake from a toy store draw a snake on a piece of tape. (we recommend duct tape as everyone probably has some now) washable markers the possibilities are endless.
I'm going to piant a little green snake on my daughter before she goes to school and explain to her the significance of what it means to us as Pagans. ;)
