View Full Version : Busy trading day

It was a record for both number of trades and players involved. Toronto, Edmonton and Calgary were the most active Canadian clubs.

Strangely enough, they appeared to have given up talent so they could give out a lower paycheque. :eyebrow:

Yet another trade deadline, yet another season of futility for the Hawks.

This team is so frustrating. Same pattern every year:

1) Sign players who are past their prime and/or who've had personal problems, watch them underachieve, put them on waivers and/or trade them for low round draft picks. Mike Smith has so many draft picks you'd think he has a fetish for them.

2) Make it *look* like you're attempting to sign a big name/impact player, but always find an excuse to explain why it didn't work out. My favorite Hawk excuse so far is an illegible fax that prevented them for signing...I think it was Tkachuk (sp?).

Much as I dislike the Rangers, I wish we had a GM like they do - willing to make trades for and/or sign major players. :flamer:
