Hehe :) I did exactly the same thing when I was 13/14.... over New Kids on the Block. I was in love with the young blond one with blue eyes.... I dont' remember his name now....
I say let them have their crushes...they'll get over them in time. And when they're older, they'll watch teenagers do the same thing, and shake their heads while they remember. :)

Joey McEntire!!!! Me too!!! I am pleased to announce that he now hosts "Say what Karoke" on MTV and looks hotter than ever!!!
Our son,5 mind you, got a little stereo for his birthday, compliments of my evil brother! And his very first CD, compliments of my even more evil sister and brother in law is Godsmack because they love the way Trey sings all the words to Voo-Doo.
Now I am a huge Godsmack fan. The lead singer is pagan and lots of the lyrics are wonderfully pagan. However I have never been so sick of hearing the same thing over and over.
Mol tried to help out by giving him a couple of more from his collection. Here was his ingenious donation:
1. The soundtrack to Spinal Tap....he commendered Mol's video several months ago and loves watching it.
2. Black....This is an album recorded by a band Mol was in when we first got married. Good stuff...brings back a lot of memories. But man, like I didn't hear that enough!!!!
Soooooo, the combination of the stereo, T.V., VCR, and the drum set, our son keeps us in agony most of the time. A point our parents are thrilled about as you might have guessed!!!!

Amethyst Rose- Joey McIntyre, Jordan Knight, John Knight, Donnie Walburg & Danny Wood!! I used to love New Kids also!!!:) (hate to say that I think I"m still a little bit of a closet fan!!) :D
Semele- Godsmack huh....:) You might be interested to know that my husband in in the Awake video....they did it at the Mansfield prison which isn't far from Cleveland and they did a radio giveaway and took a bunch of listeners from Cleveland and Columbus on buses to Mansfield to shoot the video!! He was shaperone on the Cleveland bus! You can see him...but it takes a bit to pick him out:) I can't wait to tell him that the lead singer is Pagan....he got to drink a beer with them and thought they were really cool...(maybe if he finds out he's pagan he won't give me such a hard time!!)

kids are so cute sometimes...
and as far as boybands... well... they're making a lot more money than me and my little death metal/thrash band ever will... and the only thing that really makes me dislike them is that fact that they are so fake.. and completely produced....
and i will admit when i was young, I was indeed quite the new kids on the block fan.. but then again i was also addicted to headbangers ball when i was only 7 or 8.... ;)
i guess to me.. i refuse to make any judgement on music because there is usually SOME kind of deserved merit in almost all types and genres... although rap hasn't done much to prove itself as of late.... i suppose as annoying and produced as boybands can be... they sometimes have some rather heart wrenching lyrics... and when i'm in the right mood.. i suppose they fit the bill.

I am a pretty big Godsmack fan. We saw them last year (was it last year or the year before??) at Ozz Fest and they were great. Sidenote: my best friend is actually good friends with Tommy and Sully. She used to work for Hit Parader magazine, still freelances, and has known them waaay back as Lillian Axe.
There used to be a neat interview on their website where Sully talked about being Wiccan and how it grounded him while touring and all. I just looked over there and I couldn't find it. But I thought it was good that it was from a spiritual perspective. Hopefully any of the kids interested in Wicca would hear that and get a better feel for the religion.
We are metal heads in my family too ;) My 5 yo son likes all of our stuff. I was with him and some of his school friends one day. The kids were saying, "Oh I like Brittany Spears and N Sync" He says, "My favorite song is Let's Do The Time Warp Again" ROTF! We got him a real acoustic for Christmas with a purple (Ride the Lightning style) strap and he thinks he is just the coolest
Semele, you are brave to have a drum set in the house! We told our parents that if they buy one for him, it stays at their house. Seven guitars, amps, mixer, pedals-- all that is *plenty* enough for here :p

Yeah! that's him. :) He was soooo dreamy....hehe. I had pictures of him all over my room.... I even had a t-shirt with is picture on it. Too bad we don't get MTV in Canada (only Much Music, that I'm aware of)... I'd definately check out how hot he's looking today.

Former NKOTB fan here! My best friend liked Joey and I liked Jordan.
I think its pathetic when 8-10 yr old girls are going for these boy bands. Thats growing up a bit fast.
We shelter our daughter a bit, so to keep her from that kind of thing, we introduced her to the Beatles. Now thats real music! Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to put down anyone but you definitely can't dismiss the Beatles. We bought the Yellow Submarine movie and CD. She also listens to alternative and knew all the word to All Star before they stopped playing it (I think they stopped cuz they started playing it on Radio Disney). She also knows a couple of others but I draw the line on some songs that get discrptive or profane. Speaking of Radio Disney, all they play is boy bands and that kind of stuff, Britney, etc. I can't stand it anymore, they used to play less. Thier target age is supposedly 3-13. Whatever sells.
My husband is planning on buying my daughter a djembe drum. I'm pushing for piano lessons.

Okay, so what about a couple of 26 year olds going goo goo over a boy band?? I saw the Backstreet Boys with my best friend and my then-six-year-old son and her and I were worse than my son!!!! But all the bands everyone mentioned, Shaun Cassidy, Bay City Rollers, ad nauseum, I listened to growing up as well...I actually didn't like NKOTB! BSB have WAY more on them!

Mine was Duran Duran. Ah, John Taylor. I loved him sooo much. But I also adored the Doors, Grateful Dead, and Metallica. Still do BTW. That is sooo cool about Godsmack, I just love them, as well as Uncle Kracker & Kid Rock. I must say, I feel I have very diverse musical tastes and they are passed on to my son. You ask him his fave bands and he says "metallica, AC/DC and the Dead." My son is actually one of the few kids who'll get to say they saw Jerry before he died. I took him to the June 15, 1995 (my 25th b-day) Highgate Dead show. It was great, he was 3 at the time and had a great time shaking his little tush to the tunes. He's begging to go to a Metallica show (he want's to go to Ozzfest with me and my brothers) but I won't bring him. At least not this year.

It's Ok, Wildchild. For me it was Andy Gibb, at least yours didn't commit suicide over Victoria Principal. I really had the hots for Davey Jones, too. Of course, I had no idea that I was watching the show in syndication and he was in his thirties at the time.

I too had the hots for Davey Jones as a kid...I love the Monkees!!! Well...they were in town over the weekend for "The Great American Rib Cook Off" and after the show I got to meet all of them...I got a t-shirt autographed and Davey kissed me....I got pictures!!! when I get them all developed and loaded in I will post at least the one of Davey and I:) :D

Elaine, I would have been envious when I was 12, but now Davey Jones is just some short old guy I had a crush on. I do still love the Monkees as a group, though. I've recently had the urge to go out and buy their albums again.

What a BABE and a half!
I'm excited cuz they're getting back together again and in the studio.
I liked Duran Duran before the whole NKOTB thing. Remember when you didn't think George Michael was gay? Ah the innocense of youth! ;)

The only problem I have with boybands is that they are NOT bands at all! They are just a quier! (or however you spell it!) They are very good at vocals, but I doubt they could even play the electric!
Personally, I am a metalhead. Im into all the headbanging, punk, rock, and ska stuff. But I do enjoy classical, classical guitar, Celtic, Greek, Romanian, etc, and occasionally an opera. All of are my likeing.
But, when my sister and her teenyboper friends come around by me singing that damned britney spears and i cannot consentrate and get my work done, things get out of hand. I end up losing my temper and I get grounded.
And they all talk like baby's too!!!! They giggle and slur their words and spit while they talk!! I think my parents should just put my sister in a crib with a bottle. But, they think im too harsh.
I have never had a crush on someone in a band. Its just not me. Sure, I love their music, but do I really need to know everything about them?
Godsmack rules! right now, I am sporting them. (wearing one of their shirts) ... voo doo is a good song, but it could get really old after a while. But I am and will always be a Papa Roach fan. Then there's Manson and Linkin Park. I like a ton of music. Metallica. Blink 182. there's so many good bands, and most of them have their own style.

I wasn't into him myself ~I was a big, huge, crazy Kiss fan back then (saw them New Year's Eve '96 for one of their farewell tours and they were soooo cool)~ but I do remember him. I saw him on the VH1 Behind The Music. Did you see that one? I am completely addicted to that show. :p

Oh yeah, I remember him  How about Rex Smith? Hey, anyone remember John Eric Hexum, the gorgeous hunk who was not so bright and shot himself in the head with a prop gun with blanks playing russian roulette? That was such a waste of a beautiful (physically) man. I had such a crush on him.
