yeah... it's definitely a good point to read about.. becasue as of late... a LOT of our vegetables have been engineered (to be bigger, have more flavor, or even to keep from spoiling for a longer period of time.. or react better to being kept frozen), and we still really dont' know what the effects of these genetic processes will be....

i say... we should all find a way to start our own vegetable gardens!!!

You know when I took a course about nature and the environment last semester, I was told that a rabbit, a wild one, would not eat the food you've got at home... like carrots you've bought etc, because it is not entirely natural... to them it is poisened food... and maybe the little rabbit is right... we alter food, we eat stuff like aspartam which is not at all good for us, and we put "poison" upon our food before we eat it...

Blessed be

I work in genetics for a major university. You would be scared if you knew what is going on. Washing foods off is just basic. There are so many chemicals that are added to our food that is bad. Major one - Nutrasweet....causes all kinds of nasty mutations and defects. Mood swings...etc...

nutra sweet... is that the same thing as aspartam?

anyways, artificial sweeteners are really bad for your health... and if your children are having mood swings you might want to look into that.. some new results from some scientists said that sweeteners like aspartam can give your children moodswings...

Yes - Aspartame - that is what the children in our clinic are suffering from and it is causing problems in pregnant women. Nutrasweet - Equal...etc

The problem is ---- companies are slipping it in regular foods without listing it on the contents/ingredients label. They are listing it under "natural sweeteners"....

VERY SCAREY!!! We are doing research at this moment on various products. The FDA (food and Drug Administration) needs to be revamped.

Oh! Sorry there I go again... I am a big natural food advocate. I don't want anything in my food when I am unaware of its presence.

This is another one of those topics that can cause a big, yet informative debate.
This is might be really nieve of me, but I really don't care if my food is genetically engeneered, or not. I've never really understood why so many people are against it. It seems a good idea, to me....to prevent the loss of crops due to pests, etc. and to be able to produce more food, by creating larger and better yeilding plants.
The only negative side that I'm aware of is that many smaller farms cannot afford genetically modified seed, and it is starting to affect their business.

See "HOW THW WEST WAS WON" Natural is certainly a heated point of debate!

the way that I view this is... that when you have a system.. there are natural patterns of evolution. Given time... plants would adapt to certain atmospheric changes... but we rush things... just like with medicine... we make so many advances with anti-biotics.. but we seem to keep overlooking that we are making super resistant bacteria... and that's only one instance of humans destroying their future.

we poke around at nature... and nature will poke us back.

If you want to continue not caring about GMOs then don't read this: http://www.organicgardening.com/watchdog/ge_whatyouneed.html
