I thought there might be some people online who aren't watching tv. President Bush is adressing the nation at 10:15. There appears to be some type of bombing going on at the moment. I just thought I'd post in case anyone wasn't watching that wanted to.

Thanks for telling me. I didn't even know he was going to do it. I didn't think they were bombing, they said it was Anti-Aircraft explosions....I dunno.

Yeah it was but then the press secretary said "the first phase of Iraqi disarmament has begun."

Yeah, I just saw the headline a few minutes ago. I didn't see the bombing though and I'm glad I didn't.

:(

I didn't really think about how I would feel once it actually started. I'm freakin out a little and that surprises me.

both speeches were. the President and the Press Secretary's.

It was said earlier to me by a friend "Nothing but reruns on TV tonite, including the war"

Just like 12 years ago, I sit in my Dad's living room, fretting over friends and loved ones watching it all unfold on TV. :(

I'm quite calm, which both surprises and bothers me. :(

BTW, what is the difference between 'anti-aircraft' bombing and 'regular' bombing?

LadyWillow
March 19th, 2003, 11:13 PM
Acutally MoonOwl, I'm not quite sure. Maybe it's like missles from ships or something. I'm interested in the military, but I havn't read up on things like that.

I assumed anti-aircraft is exactly what it says. Ground firing on the air. I thought they meant the anti-aircraft firing was them firing at our plane. But I don't know. I think PB is on. Maybe he will enlighten us. :)

I'm scared and confused and I think I'm against the war, but I'm strangely relieved that it's finally started. I pray that whatever happens will be for the best.

**Smiles** I wish I could provide more information. I don't really have any. :) I don't even have a TV, in fact, so everything I'm finding out is coming through websites.

**Shakes head** Do you have a link or anything? **Soft smile** This is the first time in a while that I've actually regretted not owning a TV.

Phoenix_Blue, try CNN.com or something like that. They will probably have round the clock updates.

I didn't see the bombs, however, I caught the last half of the explosion.

I agree with you Ravens_Tears

CNN.com has video, but it's premium content and I don't have membership. **Frets** I'll figure something out. . . and of course I'll have access to IPTV all day tomorrow at the office.

I missed the speech, but during a tickle fight with my boyfriend, we suddenly came upon the footage of what they said were tomahawks and endless images of Baghdad just sitting there...silent.

Well, it's official..war has started. The US launched tomahawk cruise missils (atleast 40 of them) from the navy destroyers in the gulf, then 3 stealth bombers dropped bunker busters. My hubby actually was home with me tonight and we watched it on CNN. They had cameras and microphones set up in Bahgdad. When those bombs landed, honest to God, it sounded like thunder and lightning striking right over our bodies..and we didn't even have the surround sound on...and those bombings were several miles away. It sent chills down both of our spines to hear it. My hubby is in the military and says he will go if called...but tonight when he heard those explosions the first thing he thought of was the innocent people and how they must feel hearing that all around them. Even though it was several miles from living areas, it still shook those people's homes. I could see the look on my hubby's face. My hubby normally isn't very good at putting himself in someone else's shoes. But I saw a side of him tonight that I've never seen before. This is the first time I have ever seen him show emotion for the people of that country, but he knows that as a member of the USAF, he has to go if called and will serve proudly. Also, it was confirmed that Iraq has officially launched missils at the country of Kuwait..I think it was 2 that landed in Kuwait. Oh yeah, also there's fighting in Northern Iraq too, mostly squirmishes between the Iraqis and the Kurds. I feel like a very lucky woman tonight in that my husband is actually here with me...and not over there. So many families watched that tonight knowing that their husband, wife, father, mother, etc is in it. How very sad.

I went to bed early last night- so I had no idea until I logged on to cnn this am. I am numb, close to tears....saddened and sickened.

I guess the hardest part is the not knowing what will unfold over the nexts days and weeks.

No, the hardest part is knowing that there will be innocent lives lost in the next days and weeks.

I thought the presidential address was pretty good..a little vague, but good.

I am a little surprised that I am upset as I am. I am actually refusing to go to school today, I want to be close to my family, ya know?

Let's focus on sending positive energy to the brave men and women in our military who are fighting for our protection, and hope that they will return safely to to their loved ones who are waiting anxiously and praying for them at home... and hope that the outcome of this war does not end up in absolute chaos, but peace and liberation for us all.

BB,
Angel
