Merry Meet!

I was wondering which of my Mysticwicks friends are Solilitary or in a Coven? I would be interested to hear what you feel are the "Advantages" or "Disadvantages" are of being one or the other? :)

Bright Blessings!

Hi! :) I'm solitary. Advantages for me being that I very much like to be alone, and I'm fairly self-conscious around other people. So being solitary, I don't have to worry about screwing anything up for anyone else, lol! :) Disadvantages would be that I probably don't get the same energy/results as larger groups of people, and am missing the group dances and drumming and such. :)

MM MystyPines! (sheesh, I hope I spelled that right!)

I myself am a solitary, but I am SO suffering for pagan company that I am attempting to find a coven to at least socialize with. There are a few in Ottawa, so I'm fixing to hook up with one and maybe take some classes in the process....

I am solitary at the present, but I would like to get together
with my Sisters & Brothers in the GVRD to start a coven.
Can we arrange this? It would be wonderful to worship the
Goddess, etc., with family. :sunny:

I'm a solitary practitioner. I do have a friend or two to get together with if any of us feel the need to. But mostly, I'm on my own out here in the boonies! :D

At the moment I'm solitary, but I think that's only because I don't think I could ever find a coven that would have the same beliefs as I do.
Too many years of eclectic solitary practice have led me to a point where if I want to have a coven, I'd have to make one of my own....

I'm a solitary. I don't feel comfortable worshipping and letting go around others. I can to a point. I've done both a couple of times and find solitary is where I find the most insight. group work is good for Sabbats and raising power. My group work is not with a coven but open circles.

I also attend a class that is not coven related. I like it alot and its nice to know there are so many likeminded people you can actually see around you. I find I'm not very social though, and put off alot of "leave me alone vibes". It doesn't help that I don't really know how to be around people, its been a long time and I've lost the art of conversation. :(

I too am solitary for a lot of the same reasons listed by others here.

I'm solitary. I'm quite particular about who I am openly spiritual around. And since the only other pagan I've ever felt truly comfortable with went and moved away. (*cough* Amethyst *cough*), all paganish things I do I do by myself.

Its really kinda boring. I'm one of those post-catholic "Religion is a group thing" people. You know, serious fetish for ceremony and ritual. :D

(((((Apotheosis)))))) what are you doing, making me miss my friends more than I already do?
I think to solve the whole situation, you need to move out here when you're finished school. :)

I am a solitary, though I do study with one of my firends.
She and I both discuss ideas, but we do not cast together.
We decide on our rituals, but do them alone.
Personally, I like the quiet of my own breathing not worring about someone else.
Besides, we are the only two, that we know of, in this tiny town.

This topic came up quite some time ago. At that time we had a lot less members and we found that the large part of us was comprised of solitary practitioners. Both Naillosotarrain and I are also solitaries.

I'm the Elder Priestess in our College (our trad doesn't have "covens"). We have like 8 or 9 members (I never can keep track ~ LOL!), and this College, in several forms, has been around since Yule 1995. (in 1998, we split apart from a larger network of Gwyddons, and started our own branch ~ I've been a Gwyddon since 1992, though my HP will tell you I've been one since birth.8O)

I'm a solitary, though i have a few friends locally that I discuss things with. When I first started, I went to a few "open circles" locally, but after about a month, i didn't feel it was best for me. I keep to myself a lot and I find it more comfortable practicing on my own. I'm lucky, especially now, cause I have a friend nearby to ask questions, and I've learned so much from all of you in the short time I've been a part of the community!

I'm solitary as well...first of all because I am still fairly new to everything and would not be anywhere near ready to join a coven....secondly, my work schedule is very demanding! I need to be able to pray and do rituals and things of the sort on my time and not when someone else schedules it....my schedule changes all the time as well and I'm constantly on call (we're short staffed) so I would not be very dependable in a coven... thirdly, my husband still is not happy about my path (I found out today he doesn't have a problem with people that are pagan, he just has a problem with his wife being one!) *schrug*..that's a step up from before anyways!!:) so he would not be happy if I took time away from our schedule in order to go!! Oh so many reasons....*sigh* I am interested in them though and feel that one day I would love to be a part of one:)

I am solitary too. I think that is why I spend so much time on these debate boards. It gives me the chance to get to know others, without the need to partake in coven activities.

I am just a newbie to Wicca and am starting out solitary. And will proabably always be one too for many of the same reasons everyone else has mentioned. I like being by myself and doing what feels right to me. I think I would be self conscious in a group. The one thing I am missing is seeing how some things are done by others- like how do set up your circle or how do you pronounce this word.... But that is what I have all of you for, and then some!:D

I am also learning about being a kitchen witch which is a more solitary way of working with energy and the God and Goddess. I love the practical, earthy way of practicing in that manner.

I'm solitary. I moved away from my only Pagan friend:( and I haven't ventured out to find other ones here yet. I've been doing my own thing for so long that it would be hard for me to be part of a coven, but I've been thinking lately about how nice it would be to start a small circle of kitchen witches. I just haven't met other ones yet in my very suburban area.

I'm in a coven. I'm probably not a good judge of the disadvantages so I'll just stick to the advantages. Some of the advantages of being in a coven is...

good (trustworthy) knowledge of basics
backup (just in case) :D
extra push (when needed) :)

I'm solitary for most of the reasons stated here...but mostly it's 'cause I like things done my way. :D
