Hey guys and ghouls,
I need a little help interpreting the tower card in this reading I just did. The spot it showed up it I had designated to "What can be done to defend/protect against the 'attack'."
I'm a li'l bit confused/unsure of the meaning. Anyone have any ideas?

It would help if we knew where/what the rest of the cards were, since I have found the most meaning in a card relies a lot on what is around it. :) That being said, on its own I would lean towards it meaning that you have to build a strong "base" and not over stretch yourself in attempting to complete whatever needs to be done. The tower card usually warns us to be careful of our footing and plans, because we can get too far ahead of ourselves, causing everything to crumble around us. At least, that's how it usually comes up for me. YMMV

The first card I got was The High Priestess, which I see as meaning "pay attention to what the cards are telling you!" if it's a reading for a younger woman and a "You can straight up be giving advice on this" if it's for an older woman. So for this reading its "Pay attention!"
So, I moved on to the "What's he gonna pull?" and I got the 8 of swords. This for me reads as he's gonna try to pin down/bind this person. So I pulled another to find out what can be done to protect the person and defend against this guy, and that's when the Tower card came up. Which made me go o_O;;

I'd agree with RoseKitten. Given the placement and the spread the card is saying to be really certain of the base. A strong belief in oneself and sure footing (not easy to manipulate) are what's needed here. At least that's how I see it.

Plus, people read the cards uniquely, in their own styles. Cards mean different things to different people. It really depends on your gut instinct.

I agree that placement with the other cards is important, but I see it differently then others have said. In a "defense" position I would think that the Tower would be warning against pride, over confidence, and arrogance. That the more
"protection" you try to have the more things are going to crumble and that the best thing is to go with the flow and let the pieces fall where they may knowing that you will be better and stronger afterwards.

I feel that The Tower is saying the querent should be careful about what choices they make. For me, The High Priestess and the Eight of Swords say to do what the querent feels to be right and if they don't the situation will blow up in their face, ie The Tower.

That's just my two cents, though.

The Tower card is heavy. It's when you can no longer deny the corrupt patterns in either your or another person's behaivor or life style. Change and major change is imminent. It is a reckoning...a seeing things for what they are. It is an extremely difficult phase...but it had to happen...almost as when the wave crests to fullness...it will begin to topple over. I think nothing can stop the Tower...but then why would you want to stay stuck in old patterns...there is no choice anymore...change is a coming...and it won't be pleasant...but a new way will open up for you. It always does if you hold your hands out.
