This prolly doesn't go here, but the main reason i'm putting it here is because I suck my lip (a similarity I share with toddlers :$). And I can't sleep without sucking my lip. the unfortunacy is that i grind my teeth in my sleep to the point where my molars (the majority of them) are flat. I can sleep with a mouth gaurd, but I don't like to because then I can't suck my lip, and sucking my thumb is just not the same :(

Are there any alternatives for me to not grind in my sleep, yet still be able to go to sleep sucking my lip? :$ Anything that worked for any of your kids or something? :$

You won't like it but here's my advice.
Stop sucking your lip. Wear the teeth guard.
Ask anyone with dentures how it feels to wear them!

If you need comfort before you can sleep, try some herbal relaxants like chamomile (sp?) and Kava Kava. There are a lot of other relaxing herbs. I personally can't drink chamomile tea because I'm allergic to anything in the ragweed family. I do take Kava Kava for anxiety.
Find another physical way of calming yourself. Rubbing your fingers in your hair is a good way (my daughter still sleeps with her hand in her hair when she gets stressed). A teddy bear is not a BAD thing! Try something soft that you can put some relaxing essential oils (lavender) on. Try a "white" noise machine or a radio.
The choice to give up a charished habit is not easy. You need to see this habit as the enemy! It's preventing you from protecting your teeth.
Blessed Be and ask the Tooth Fairy for strength!;)
