By the Trees around me! I think I finally have a topic that fits no forum! (Except for this one as a companion to the rock lesson and where it can lead) ;)

I do a lot of work with crystals in my Path and thought to write about them some. But, I can't seem to find a place this thread would "fit" so, more than one forum gets this.

For those familiar with crystals, gems, stones and their manipulations and uses in medical and spiritual use, I give to you something I have found that will dramatically aid in the charging, tuning healing and clearing of most All stones. I have had quartz points charge to a frequency so tight and strong that when I went to retrieve it the next day I nearly got sick from the ringing in my head and the slam my stomach chackra took when I touched it.
---------------------------------------------
First, a trick in determining the "charge" or "flavor" of a crystal.

-Take and hold it at arms length, point up, with a well lit white background a few feet behind it. A wall works great.

-Clear your mind and focus your vision past the point to somewhere "in between" the crystal and the wall itself. With very little practice you should see a "flow" from the tip(s) in/outward that is reminescent of heat shimmering off a hot road...for me at least. A correctly and fully charged crystal is unmistakable in the clarity and speed of the energy stream it eminates. Regardless of the color of the quartz used.

Not everyone I asked can do this but about 55-60% of people have discerned it within 3 trys.

----------The Crystal Pool. A mineral hospital and rejuvinator-----

Some years back I got some silica sand from a job being done because I thought my stones might look good resting in it, in my alter. Into a 10"round glass bowl I placed the sand and after clensing and charging my crystals I stuck them in the sand, point up, and put the affair in my alter thinking "don't that look pretty."

THe next afternoon I took the "sand pool" as I dubbed it out and I'll be damned if all the stones weren't completely cleared and dead! Rather than take them all out I put the bowl and crystals in the sun to charge. 30 mins later I went out and discovered that they were so charged it felt electrified!! Passing my hand over the bowl I could feel the individual shaft of power from each tip like a magnifying glass trained across my palm. And the whole eminated a force that made me suck in my breath and reground myself before I could hold it. Not heat but ENERGY!

THrough experimentation I had come to therorize that the silica sand acted like a pool or resevoir for the rocks to feed upon Much like the Earth nurtures the trees. In sunlight it magnifies and feeds them and darkness drains and quiets them to a quescient point.

Recently we bought pure quartz sand to refill the filters in the pools. Out of curiosity I replaced the common silica in the bowl with the quartz and my suspicions were proven to my total satisfaction as I am now sitting here looking at a 8" crystal that I found broken in two after sitting in the sun of my room for 2 days.

I WARN you though!! This may work TOO good for those highly sensitive to crystals. Ringing ears and upset stomach are common side effects.

I welcome any comments on this from those in the know. I can't find any record of this being done before so if you try this, let me kknow the outcome. Thanx!

Peace,
Twig

Does anyone know the "why" of why quartz is utilized so much in magical work?

Often times we all , in any faith, wind up doing things by rote, or just because they have become "tradition". Many of our ways in this faith have SOUND and EXPLAINABLE actual scientific basis that we tend to overlook because we take them "on faith". Let me give examples:

Quartz;
How many times have you looked at a clock or watch and seen where it says "quartz movement"? Small wafers of quartz are in the movement to track the seconds. When electricity is appied to one of the wafers, it oscillates (vibrates). THis is when a "mechanical" power source is applied. Soo, why wouldn't a quartz crystal react to a "natural" power suppy that coulsd power the phone system of a New York highrise? THe human nervous system.

Salt;
Why do we use salt to cleanse crystals and cleanse areas?
Thermodynamics, the laws that govern the change of energy from one state to the next. For energy to change state there must be free active ions availabe as a catalyst. the most common source of those ions on this world is simple, common, sodium. What better way to clear crystals than to immerse them in free active ions?

Twig, youre a learned man, stop and think about what you did with that silica sand. What is silica sand used for nowadays? The production of electronic components, microcircuits. When you placed those crystals in the sand, you linked those power sources to "circuitry". I'd almost bet that you could "tune" your little bowl there to be one helluva tranciever for your little altar.
Did you have that on your altar when that sansstorm happened? I'll bet you did...

I've got more examples, but I'll post them later.

Thanks for the info Twig, very interesting. I've seen silica sand used somewhere before, but I can't remember what for now... could have been to amplify a spell or something... I just don't remember!

I think I might try and get some of this sand and try it. Is there anywhere online you know to order it? Or what kind of places to check into if they have it?

I have found that by putting my crystals into a pool of lightly salted water ith pure sand from the beach that I have received the same results. I have a 10 inch natural double terminated "garden" crystal which I use a great deal. After allowing the crystals and several others to soak in this pool for 24 hours, I found them so super charged it almost hurt touch them due to the energies flowing in them. They actually were glowing.

I sadly no longer have access to that particular sand.....sighs. So far havenot yet experienced any bad symptoms from doing this. Except once I sneezed for two hours straight.

Wonderful Information! Many thanks to all. I'm going to try it all out. Just so happens that I'm going to the beach tomorrow. I'll be sure and bring some sand home.

I have done many things to cleanse my stones, from silica chips to salt and hyssop.

I have a wonderful stone called a herkimer diamond which was a gift from a friend. I have used it for years now to re-charge my stones after I cleanse them. The powere this stone holds within is nothing short of amazing.

Twig,
I have done something quite similar before buying an expensive or large crystal as to testing it's powers. However, my result is the static charge I get almost immediately from a strong crystal. I recently purchased a flourite crystal wand approximately 8 inches long. When I saw it in the store I had to hold it. As I handed it to the clerk to purchase it, you could actually see the sparks when our hands touched.

As for your broken crystal, quartz can many times have some mineral deposits which will allow it to conduct heat more than the crystal alone will. With the sand, it is highly possible the highest quality of quartz was not used for the grinding. As a result the extreme heat conducted into your crystal was more than the occlusions could tolerate and it split. I have seen quartz sand have visible heat waves.

Along with my usual crystals, I have experienced serious nausea and ringing in the ears from Boji Stones. While they work wonders for my arthritis, if they become "over-charged" I have to set them aside and let them lose a little of the charge before I can pick them up again.

Intersting post Twig, thanks! I love stones and crystals!

This one deserves to be bumped. As now we got some crystal experts here.

I searched my name and this was on top and I was wondering why.

Heheh I don't claim to be an expert by any means. I'm more a "natural" with them. This DOES work and I can't stress enough to be careful if you are particularly sensitive.

So, if anyone has tried it or does(and I know the experts will)I would like to see the results you get.

Thanks again. Peace,
Twig

Peace brother, nice to see you. I use them alot, practice crystal and stone magick and healing. I find the method you posted quite acceptable and almost like my own way.

Peace out Brother Twig!

I have used sea sand, sea salt and table salt to clean my quartz. You literally discharge a crystal when you do that but as you experienced Twig, they recharge very well and quickly when exposed to the sun. You can clean a crystal in an instant by throwing it hard (striking motion) into sea sand or silica sand. It creates an instant pesio-electric (sp?) discharge and will even show a visable spark on occasion.

I usually felt stings from the stones i cleanse when i take them to the beach.Especially the black coral piece/wand as I didn`t shape it yet but use it to cleansemy crystals. with the help of my stone cleansing "wand" I cleanse all my stones(except angelite and selenite) in salt water. Stones being cleansed for week or more in the sun and moon will be like that as well.

When I cleanse mine, they also get a bath in salt water that is distilled and if I leave them too long I hear a high pitched tone in both my ears. Ouch, and so I try never to leave them in their water bath too long. I would love to go to the Great Salt Lake and get some of that H2O and sand. But not possible at the moment.
