View Full Version : Familiars ...

Okay, a little back story for you ...
I recently bought a pet rat in the middle of March (15th) of this year, now lately (end of march and all of this month) she seems to act really weird almost to the point of it's as if someone's been feeding her coffee beans she's that active (jumping around etc)
Rhyce said something to be the other day (about her behaviour) that it could be put down to the fact that she is perceptive to magickal energy and can sense magickal happenings (ie: fairies)
So what I am wondering is how can you tell if you indeed have a familiar and not just an ordinary household pet? (I will admit a rat isn't exactly a "normal" choice for a pet, but then you don't really know me  )
TIA ... I know I seem to be bombarding you all w/ questions, but gotta figure it out somehow ... :D

Just so ya know, it's often really helpful to search the forums. With over 4000 members and a few years of threads between them, often subjects have been discussed many times. Ya just gotta click search near the top there and you can search by keyword, username, and so on.

Yep, true! Though I think your exact question has been answered before ("how do you tell it's a familiar and not a household pet").
Heh I think I've posted about it so I know it's around here somewhere.

Hmm.. when it starts chanting in ancient Hebrew? Or would that always apply? :D

Nah, parrots can be trained to do that.
When it starts glowing while chanting, assuming it's not a naturally illuminescent creature, is when you need to worry. ;)

So, I've just got a crazy rat on my hands then eh? I think she senses a lot of things I don't pick up on, that's what got me asking questions ...

A lot of animals will sense that tho.
That's why pets are so good for healing, and why they are taken into nursing homes and so on.

I'm don't see why it couldn't be. Is anything "normal"?

I'd try casting a circle while having them in your lap and see how they react. If they're a familiar, I'd expect them to feel quite comfortable in a circle.

Most animals will like being in a circle.
heh I just said this in another thread - animals and kids are attracted to divine energy, it's like a magnet.

Thanks, I didn't even consider that ...

My dog doesn't seem all that fond of being in a circle, so perhaps only a fair few enjoy it? Maybe my dog's just weird!! LOL!!

That's right Rainx!! The majority of animals like it. My dog seems to like it on the odd occasion, but generally he doesn't understand what's going on. Silly dog. :D
