Meditation/visualization is one of those things that gets easier with practice, so...keep doing it! Try doing short, simple exercises at first and then as you feel more comfortable with your visualization move on to longer, more detailed ones. A simpler exercise I remember reading about somewhere involved visualizing a 3D cube, each side having a different color. The idea is to rotate the cube in your mind while keeping the colors on the appropriate sides. Maybe someone else here has a better explanation of what I'm talking about.

I'm the opposite lol. I have little to no problem visualizing, but since I live in such a busy household, it's extremely hard for me to meditate without having someone or something interrupting me.
I practiced visualization while learning to remember dreams actually. After I wrote what I remembered down, I would try to bring up that image or situation and try to recall as much about it as I could. I found after awhile I could visualize much easier than before.

Visualization is very difficult for me as well. Maybe because I expect to see things as if looking at a movie screen. I try to not overlook the essence of the object I’m trying to visualize. It’s still a work in progress for me.
Though I have had visions. Clear ones. I once saw a man chasing after a young girl with a knife and honestly thought it was a flash back from a movie or show I’d seen. When I got home that day my sister told me her closest friend at the time was taken by child services because her father had threatened her with a knife.

Snagged from http://www.mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14065
"A simple (and popular) visualization exercise is to pick a fruit and observe it. Observe it's colour, texture, taste, smell, and any sound you make eating it. You should observe it fully - this might even take days so take your time. When you've done so, try to recreate the fruit in your mind. Visualize every inch of it and every aspect of it. At first just try to get the visualization in your mind fully. Then each day visualize the fruit longer and longer. If any other thoughts come to mind accept them and move on from them, holding only the fruit in your mind. At first you will only be able to do this for seconds. Try to do this daily until you can visualize the fruit and ignore all outside stimuli for several minutes (or even an hour) at a time. "
