Hi everyone! I have some very exciting news for everyone in the Community and I couldnt wait to let everyone know. As all of you know we have been growing leaps and bounds. Its amazing, these days its not uncommon to hit the site and see more than 50 members online! We all know this has brought with it some major site-speed problems. Ok, I wont mix words with all of you...the site has been painfully sloooooooooow a lot more than not lately. We have been continually getting frustrated as I am sure a lot of you have as well.

Well, Semele and I have been pretty strapped for cash lately. New babies do that to you...among other things! But, we have finally done it! We are happy to announce to you that Mystic Wicks is about to graduate to a new and much improved server! We have purchased a brand new machine and have placed it in one of the best network centers in America! For the geeks here is a run down of the new server: Dual Pentium 1300mhz, 2 gigabytes of ram, RAID 7200 RPM SCSI drives. We are on a private 10 megabit multi-homed pipe and we are running Redhat 8.0 with the latest stable kernel. (In fact, I am configuring the Operating system right now!) For the non-geeks here is a run down of our new server: Its bigger and its faster! In fact, 4 times faster than the current server!! And its all OURS.

So, this is an alert to all of you that we will be moving sometime in the next few days. I will try to minimize the downtime as much as possible. If you come to the Community and see nothing but a message from me, then you know we are in the process of moving the database (which is HUGE).

We have been waiting a long time for this. I wish we could have done it sooner, because believe me...we would have. Anything for you guys and gals. Anyway, this is our gift to all of you. We love you all!

We are FAST!

Hey everyone! Well, it is official. MW has moved to the new server. The server is performing great! We had about 40 members online at one point last night and everything was running at peak levels. In fact, we have not made a dent in the server resources yet. Looks like this investment is going to pay off greatly.

Now, for a request. Please drop by the Community and lets see how much load this new one can take. If you havent been back in a while (especially if it was because of speed/performance problems) then I would like to invite you back now. We would love to see everyone taking advantage of the new hardware and connection.

Oh, and just so you know. The domain hasnt resolved yet. If you notice that going to mysticwicks.com redirects you to a url (address) like: http://207.44.218.3/mw/ this is perfectly ok. I had to make a temporary redirect until the DNS propogates and points to the right server. This also means that emails to me will most likely bounce....so....no need to reply to this letter.

Thats it for now. We will keep you updated.
