View Full Version : Meditation advice needed - voice instructions break relaxation

Hi all,

I have an irritating problem with guided meditations (both spoken and recorded). I cannot relax properly, since every time the guide starts talking, I tense up, my breathing speeds up etc. In general, I get ready to react. During spoken meditations (pathworkings) this is compounded by the fact that I don't know what the guide will be saying, so I listen intently to the next instruction and end up stressing about "getting everything done in time".

Has anyone else had to deal with this problem and could share how they overcame it? I seem to respond best to pre-recorded meditations that I've listened to a couple of times already (so that I know them by heart), with audible background music and barely audible voice instructions, but it's still not ideal.
