View Full Version : Which deity was this?

I felt like I was visited by a deity last night. Very weird experience, they talked to me once or twice but I can't remember the words. I asked for their name, but they refused (or I didn't listen).
Here's what basically happened. I felt like there was a nice warm blanket being pulled over me, despite the night being cold and my window open. I had my door cracked and when I started to feel the presence it slammed shut, I don't think it was the wind. Despite me feeling warm I was a bit afraid, the presence was warm and frightening. And the main reason I believe it was a deity, they're presence was filling the room. Let me explain, I have a bit of a talent where when I want I can open up my mind and feel the life emanating from other living things, and coldness from dead things. And the presence surrounded my mind, and I couldn't press past it.
I have a feeling it was a Goddess, but it could've been a God. My top guesses are The Morrigan or Isis, mainly because I was reading about Morrigan prior to going to bed and the experience, and Isis because I just had a bit of a gut feeling it was her.
Other guesses are Thor (I've heard he has a strong and a bit scary presence before), Dionysus playing tricks on me, a Goddess associated with death (Freyja),Set, or a Babylonian deity (I was also thinking of Marduk and Ishtar prior).
Thanks

I always go with my gut in situations like that. If you're curious about it and don't feel frightened by the presence you could invite it back and ask its name?

Wow this really brings me back. It was almost exactly a year ago when a similar thing happened to me. The only difference was that it was the name that brought comfort so the identity was never hidden. The best i can recommend is that you take that experience and meditate on it. If the deity is trying to call to you it won't stop after one attempt and by meditating on that experience will show whom ever they may be that instead of shutting yourself up to them that you are indeed embracing it and wish to listen to it's calling. I am almost certain tho that you will see that your initial gut feeling will pan out to be true. Our intuition is a gift from the divine themselves and serves as a way to identify themselves much like you can know when your not alone in a room even if blindfolded.

You know, reading up on a deity right before bed seems to be really useful in getting responses from them, it seems. Hera gave me a visit after I had just finished reading up on her and was relaxing and waiting to get tired enough to sleep. Perhaps doing that before bed again will prompt another visit.
I agree with the above - invite him/her back and ask their name, if you're positive they won't hurt you. If you're not comfy-cozy with that, then I bet they'll get your attention another way.
I've actually heard of somebody I know being visited by what they claim is a deity who is trying to hurt them. After hearing who it was, I can't believe it was a Goddess or God, despite what they say. I don't know what I think it was, but I know what I think it wasn't XD Be caaaareful~~

I've never encountered something like that. In fact, I've read where malevolent spirits have been known to imitate deities to try and gain trust. However, I've only know this to happen typically during workings. It is also simple to prevent. Depending on your pantheon, you ask the the spirit if they except (Ra, Odin, Lugh, etc.) as supreme. If they say yes then it's safe to assume them true and if no, then you know that it is an imposture. However the deities love us, they would never seek to just hurt us. Unless you've majorly insulted them, that is. If that's the case, take a good, long look at Greek mythology to prepare...the divine don't play nice when angry.

D: I think she follows the Greek pantheon, so I'll be sure to tell her about that method. Also, it made me feel better x3 How can we be sure they're not lying? (I'm a no0b at interacting with the Gods or other beings, m'self.)
