Hi, this is probably a foolish question....but what are the runes, I've seen them, but I don't really understand how to use them or what they do, or where they originate from...can anyone help me?

i know about the runes. My favourite parts of paganinsm are shapeshifting, runes and poetry(hint, mol.)First, ravenseye, you are asking something a bit vague. First, what are the runes. well the runes are an ancient language and are drawn with straight lines. Instead of being just a letter they have several meanings and uses. One rune can mean many things. There are 3 main rune alphabets, 2 in one type and 1 in the other. the most commonly used on is the 24-letter FUTHARK. the other 2 are the 32-letter and 17-letter FUTHORK(S).they are not often used.
the runes care often cast, but i cant be bothered to write about that now. maybe i will write in installments, like a lesson or something(hint).my hands are getting tired so i will tell you more about the basic runes probly tomorrow.

As far as i know, the witches runes were created from parts of the germanic futhark and other systems, they are just simplified to suit the practices of the witch.

Sorry about that...with the confusion of this week i have missed this...I will start the Rune class when I get back form my trip this weekend. Of course, if you want to start us off with some information you have been reading then by all means!
I could also ask Twig to run this class...he might even be better suited.

I have my runes, which I made from stones collected from a river back home in Australia. They are very precious to me, but I don't really use any divination tool with any real consistency, so I'd like to try focusing on one or two (the other one being my Australian Totem Animal Cards) so the runes will work *grin* This should be fun!
