I received a healthcare update from a friend and thought I wouls share it here. It is about why certain foods help with living longer.

TOMATOES- These are a major source of the strong antioxidant lycopene. this reduces the risk of Cancer by 40% and increases the survival rate especially in prostate, lung, and stomache cancers.

OLIVE OIL- Helps reduce heart disease and Cancer. Heart attack survivors in the Mediterranean have 1/2 the death rate of those on a normal low fat diet.

RED GRAPES- Antioxidant power is moderate but is 4 times more than OJ or Tomato Juice.

NUTS- research from Harvard Univ. showed that 5 ounces of nuts per week cut heart attacks in women by 40% and help reduce irregular heart beats in men making them more steady.

WHOLE GRAINS- Contain antioxidants that fight cancers and stabilize insulin and blood sugar levels.

BLUEBERRIES- powerful in retarding aging process, they also block brain changes leading to decline and memory loss. They have also proven that 1/2 cup daily can reverse memory failing.

GARLIC- prolongs cancer survival by 5%. and increase lifespans by 5-15%

SPINACH- very high in folic acid which helps fight mental disorders, depression cancer, and heart disease. Both raw and steamed have the same qualities

SALMON AND OTHER FATTY FISH- contains high amts. of OMEGA-3
that perform miracles throughout the body. fighting virtually every chronic disease known to man. They suggest 2 servings a week and state that mackeral, tuna, salmon, sardines, and herring are the highest source of omega 3

I thought these were interesting facts and the bottom of my print out of it shows USA WEEKEND ONLINE as the source.

Thanks. :) I love red grapes, so now I even have a justifiable reason for buying them instead of green grapes, which cost less. :D
