View Full Version : Trying to remember a deck name...

My birthday just came up, and now that I have lots of money *g*, I'm thinking about treating myself to a new deck. I was looking at one about a month ago that I was really interested in and now I can't find it anywhere. It was based on Renaissance/Medieval/Historical, and I know it had more than 78 cards. It had a Papess (sp?) and Pope, and I think astrological cards. The images I can remember were kind of strong pastels, if that makes sense, lol. I think it ws a new deck, or at least recent.
I know this isn't much to go on, but if anyone has any ideas, it'd be awesome. :D I can't figure out where I first saw it-it's not on any of the sites I tend to visit.

What sites do you regularly visit? Maybe we could recommend a couple.
I don't know the deck off the top of my head. I would have to do some research.

This site shows the some history and gives the names of the decks used. If any sound familiar you could then go to aeclectic.net and check out their tarots based on the names given!

I believe that's the Minchiate Etruria! It's very pretty pastels, has extra astrological cards... I believe it's by the artist who did the PoMo Tarot, Renaissance Tarot and Light and Shadow Tarot, Brian Williams.

thanks for the help. :) It was the Minchiate. Of course, I've read a little more about it and found out that it doesn't have the Empress card (which is my soul card), lol, plus I'm still a little new to tackle a system like that. So I think I'm going to buy the Nigel Jackson deck-it's renaissance style and very pretty. Plus it'll be my first deck with *whispers* nude people, lmao. Fey Tarot and Faerie Oracle don't count, because they're not people. :D

There's some pictures if anyone else wants to see the deck, lol.

Excellent choice! I LOVE my Nigel Jackson deck. It's rather large for smaller hands, but worth it. I really enjoy the artwork. I've done many readings with it and it's always worked well for me.

It's because my kids have seen my decks for years that they DON'T say "Look Mom, they're naked!!!!! ". Now if anyone else says it, my oldest points out that it's art and they're NUDE and rolls his eyes!:D

I have never forgotten the reading I once did for my middle-aged aunt with my Robin Wood deck, and the Lovers turned up.
As for nudity, I have a Casanova deck, so it's pretty much all there.

Lisa, I'm glad you like your deck so much . . . I'm trying to figure out somethine else to buy from Amazon so I get free shipping, lol. I've seen lots of pictures from the deck, and it seems like the big size (and I do have small hands) is definitely worth it. I've already fallen in love with Temperence. *g* What are your other favorites?

I looked at pictures of it, since it seemed a lot of people liked it. Let's just say that the Fool isn't a card I'll forget any time soon, lol. :D
Dagda, I forgot to tell you that the two sites I tend to dwell at are Aeclectic and Tarot Passages. If you have any other favorites, I'd love to hear about them!

Oh my goodness with a question like that we could be here all day! LOL Right now I've been working alot with the Gothic tarot by Vargo... not sure if that's available thru amazon. I also really like Goddess decks although for some people they prefer a more even balance between masculine and feminine. Other things I'm working with right now are my runes and the Faerie's Oracle by Brian Froud. Don't get me started on decks... I'll never shut up!
