Merry Meet!

Lords and Ladies, are you ready to experience an adventure back in the period of the 1500s? Come enjoy yourselves at the many Renaissance Faires across the United States. Are you in the mood to dine on medieval fare, shop in villages of artisans and merchants, socialize with dashing nobles, bawdy peasants, and regal knights, and be entertained with many stage shows, witness Knights in battle and royal parades, human chess games and jousts, Shakespearean theatre, puppet shows, costume contests (attend in garb), bards, minstrels and musicians, jugglers, jesters, wizards, bellydancers?s

The shopping at Renaissance Faires is wonderful and I have found many great items such as Athames, Swords, Staffs, Wands, Parchment Paper, Quills, Ink, Wax and Seals, Crystals, Herbal Oils, Incense, Herbs, Candles, Cloaks, Robes, Leather Journals, Velvet Pouches, Drums, Tambourines and other musical instruments.

The following website gives U.S. listing by State also includes Australia, Canada, England, France, Germany, Italy, etc.:

I will be attending the New Jersey Renaissance Kingdom in Somerset, New Jersey this Saturday (6/2) (runs May 26 – July 1), maybe I will see some of my fellow MysticWicks New Jersey friends.

Bright Blessings!

I love Ren Faires! i just went to one last weekend. Its amazing how many pentacle you see people wearing, even though if it was back then they would have been killed, and Pagan bumper stickers. There are also alot of Pagans who own shops. I just bought a chalice with a penticle on it this past weekend and signed up for thier catalog. Its great to get dressed up, you find more of interactive experience that way. My husband is the type that likes to yell back at the performers. I loved the Flaming Idiots, they now have an off Broadway show and take it on the road. A couple of my other faves are Shakespear on a Shingle and Ded Bob. They are mostly TX shows but most Ren Faire shows are good. Anyways I'll stop now, oh yeah if you need a link to make Ren Fest costumes i've got one. I made my son's for last weekend. It only took me a day since he's just a baby.

MM SAHM!

I love the faires also. I am in the midst of filling out an application for the Olde World Renaissance Faire in Connecticut in September/October of 2001. I am just working on building up my stock on my herbal candles and oils. And, you are right, I have never seen more Pagans in my life than when I attend the renaissance faires. The New York Renaissance Festival in Sterling, New York has a Pagan Parade that goes through the Village shouting, "We're Pagan, We're Proud, We'll Shout It Out Loud." It's a lot of fun. I have met many wonderful vendors and faire go'ers. The Flaming Idiots are hilarious - I have seen them at the NY. Ren Faire. My husband and I always dress up, we have tons of ren garb whether we are Royalty, Peasants but our favorite is the Wizard and Sorceress.

I didn't know about this website! Very useful, thanks!
Now I know when to head off to Kenosha for the RenFaire there. We really enjoyed our last visit there in '99.

And if I hadn't seen the site, I wouldn't have known there's plans for a Festival of Fantasy, tomorrow in Lyons, so maybe we'll have to head out to that *grin*

Cheers!

I love the faires too:) I've been going to the Northern Cal faire at Blackpoint Forest for, let's see...15 yrs I think. It got moved to Vacaville 2 years ago when the RPF finally lost their lease. I miss the old place and the beautiful old oaks trees, but at least this time I'm alot closer to the newer location. I've gone in costume most of time, even if it's nearly 100 when the faire comes around between August and October!8O

I LOVE REN FAIRES!!!!! They're just the best places in the world!!!!
Ahem. Regaining calm exterior.
They're great. I go every year I can, with all my wiccan friends. There's a silver leather rose sitting on my altar right now that I got at one of those.

For the Ren Faire I just went to, The king (Henry VIII) declaired that there will be no rain allowed. But if the grounds were graced by liquid sunshine, the Faire will still go on! :D

I got extremely excited when I saw this thread. Don't ask me why, but I just LOVE RenFaires. There's one every year in New York, I can't remember exactly WHERE, something Forest? I dunno. :(

But, anyway, my aunt and grandmother took me for the first time three summers ago. It was just the 3 of us and we walked around ALL day. They have so many different things. So many that when my aunt, my grandmother, and I took the rest of my family and a few cousins and whatnot, we saw other things we hadn't seen the FIRST time around.

Each year we go it seems to get better and better. The actors they have walking around are awesome. This summer when we go I really have to have MAAAD $$ because I plan on stocking up on things that I can't really find. Which are a lot of things. :)
I'm not sure when we're going this summer, but I'll be sure to keep ya updated!

It is Sterling Forest~ right near me :)

We try to go every year, I love it too. The shops are awesome and the kids always get a kick out of the joust. I can't wait for August for it to open! Actually, end of July I think...

Chris~ running off to check the dates...

Yes! That would be where it is. Personally, I liked the Mud Show the first time I saw it 3 summers ago. It was very funny. Let me know when you're going and maybe I'll see ya there!

I just saw a real joust the last time I went to one! It was very awsome, the horses and the knights in shining armour! It was like stepping into a tale of King Arthur, even though its set in Henry VIII's time. :D
