okay i've been asked by a lot of ppl what my animal is... how do you find out what it is?? cus i have no clue (lol) and i'd really like to! thanks!! :)

Finding your animal totem can be done in several ways, the simplest, like Fawn says, then there is a dream vision as is suggested elsewhere and then your animals can choose you. It's important to note that your animal totem may often choose you and may not be your favorite animal after all.

My winged totem is the Great Owl, or as we call it here in NM, a Canyon Owl; these are huge owls that live in the canyons out here in the Southwest; my fur totem is the wildcat and my scale modem is the rattlesnake. All of my totems are creatures I am somewaht familiar with, but not always what I would have chosen, they chose me at a young age when I used to go to a place called Carrizozo, NM and spend much of the summer months with my aunt and uncle.

How it occured for me is rather personal, but my animals all chose me and "spoke" to me when I was younger. It was after this choosing that I grew an affinity for cats, before then I was a dyed-in-the-wool redneck dog person. I'm still somewhat a redneck, just not the kind you would want to shoot ... ;).

No matter how it's done, the animal you choose should represent something in your life.

I don't really know why, but with my totem animal, it's kinda like my Druid religion. I feel that's the only 'right' animal. It feels like it's me. I don't know if I'm making sense, but that's the way things are... How I got drawn to Paganism is a different story, though... :p
