Okay, I've tried the basics ... well kinda ... u know like leaving books out and stuff ... hell my mum and I even got into a semi conversation over something that was on the tv about the Celts and stuff ... I know for one she's noticed my pentagram necklace

MUM: "You know that pendant on your necklace, isn't that the star of David?"
DAD: " No the star of David is a six pointed star"
(Conversation amongst selves)
ME: "No, it's a pentagram and its for protection"

Didn't really have the heart to turn around and tell them there and then that I'm now a Wiccan ... plus ... I've already been given a hard time about wearing a Japanese coin (u know they have holes in the them, so I thought "why not?")
Anyway my mum's like: "What's that?"
And I'm like: "It's a Japanese coin tied to my ankle"
Mum: "Oh, I don't think I like it"
Me: (thoughts, too bloody bad)

So after a huge ramble ... any suggestions on how I could bring this up with my parents ... my sister kinda knows, I told her about it ... only I couldn't tell her I was making a wand last night ... I get the impression she'll laugh ... so I just told her I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do with my nice bit of wood, 'cept I want it silver and green, metallic style ... lol

If you feel you are ready there are some great coming out of the broom closet threads somewhere in the new pagan forum. There are tales in there of how some of us have done it and suggestions for those of us who aren't quite ready to mull over and perhaps use when we are ready.

What she said. Go digging, as with anything else.

One bit of advice I am going to give you though. They may not like it, duh, you're expecting that I'm sure. But they may really not like it, ie they may react much more harshly than you expect. Don't be surprised by this. Your surprise will work against you. And besides.. this is their "little" one telling them that you've made a jump (in their eyes, mind you) into another world, totally different from theirs, and they are quite frankly afraid. Afraid for you. So try to keep in mind what it is going to mean to them.. try to help them understand that its not another world, just this world with a different pair of glasses on, and that there isn't anything to be afraid of. To that end: prove it. Prove you are mature enough to make this sort of decision and it be valid in their eyes.

I mean hey, c'mon. These are your parents. Sure some parents are worthless.. but not all. Not even the majority. Chances are they know more than you think, too, and are waiting for you to make the move.

Other than that.. I just wish you luck. I got a bit lucky in my case.. my mother's fine with it. My dad on the other hand... well, he's stated his case, and we just don't talk about it when I visit. Which is fine.
