and no-one bothered to test that truth for a couple of centuries.

Someone authoritive makes a statement, and we all believe it. We also tend to believe the first thing we hear / read / see about a subject, and only start evaluating when we are presented with different views. Even then, we're more likely to hold the second view in error.

Now back to the tiger's eye: is this publication going to change the gem's use in magic and rituals? (Supposing it was used at all.)

I don't see why it would. Is the magical usage of a stone really based on how it forms? I didn't know either theory about its formation and I've been using it for years... For me, it doesn't change anything, but it is always interesting to hear about new discoveries.

I agree. I believe that is true of all magical tools. If it feels right, it is.

I had some tigers eye I bought at an indian reservation when I was a cub scout. I had no idea it used to be so incredibly valuable.

It's strange what tennants scientists challenge or leave. On fark.com, they list all sorts of crazy scientific or sociological experiments, from the very stupid and redundant to the bizarre. But always with the caption "Still no cure for cancer". The point being, we really don't NEED to know how Tigers eye is formed, we need to know more about how carcinogenic compounds bond to organic molecules to infiltrate our cell walls, stuff like that is just more important.

I love tiger's eye. I try to wear it whenever I can, and I took a small chunk on my driving test - and passed. :D
