View Full Version : What's your favourite gemstone?

Are you particularly attracted to one crystal or stone? For me, I would say it was Blue Lace Agate or possibly hickoryite, as I find it gives me inspiration for my writing. :)

Writing inspiration? **Ponders** Do you have a link to any pictures of them?

Malachite is probably my favorite in terms of aesthetics. In terms of actual energy work, though, I usually stick with plain quartz.

I'm sorry I don't have any picture links but I know there's a link to the store where I got it from - if I can remember the URL!

Oh here you go - here's a link to their gemstones listing.

Hickoryike is halfway down the page, it's kinda like a brown-cream stone - sorta the colour of peanut butter. And it has this amazing energy.

Malachite - I've never worked with that, although I use hematite all the time. I used to wear a ring made of hematite until one day it just broke while I was wearing it. I took that as a message, although I still don't know what it was trying to tell me.

:) Hematite is a fairly fragile stone - it will break when it gives up the last of its stored healing energy. That just means it's time for more hematite! ;)

For some reason, your link didn't show up. . ?

I wear turquoise all the time. Malachite, garnet, amber, ruby and citrine are also pretty normal in my life. I'm really drawn to sapphires lately too, but don't have any.

My favorites are Blue Topaz, Onyx, Jade and Turquoise. There's also this rare type of sapphire called a star sapphire (named such because it has a "star" design inside the stone...naturally! It's some kind of chemical reactant or something  ), that I've been particularly attracted to since seeing a picture of one in the encyclopedia.

Rose Quartz, Flourite (spelled right?), and Amethyst (my birth stone, btw). These three make me calm just by looking at them, and purple (Amethyst) is my favorite color. :D

Amethyst, lots of it at my house. I went to a flea market here in Phoenix this past weekend. There is a rock place there that has these big, crates of amethyst tubes from Brazil. They just open them and stand them up so you can see the tube. They stand all around you. Kinda a henge but of these ameythest tubes. so lovely , it was unbelievable the feeling you get surrounded with all that beauty and energy. I had a buzz all day from it. The prices were very reasonable too. They had lots of other rocks. I am also attracted to rose quartz, clear quartz, pearls, jade and coral. Oh and hemitite. But I have a bracelet of it.

Well, my very first stone was an Amethyst. It is a ring I got from my aunt and uncle in Oxford Nova Scotia. Amethyst is mined in Nova Scotia. I wear it every day. I also love Rose Quartz and have a big piece I carry with me. I also sometimes need Hemitite in the winter so I wear it in necklace form. I need that energy with a class of 24 Grade fours.

I have even brought in some of my stones for my class to see. We are learning about rocks and mineral in Science class. I now have a whole class of students who have rock and gemstone collections. We are taking time out for each student to talk about their collections. I already have three girls who carry around Amethyst too. They told me that they feel lucky with it. See the goddess starts early.

I think Malachite is a wonderful healing stone (for me). What I carry at work is an onyx - for protection.

Smoky quartz, moonstone and labradorite. Obsidian too, when it's glassy. And opals, but they're mad expensive. *has a thing for pretty much anything iridescent*

Mine is a heart of carnelian, crimson as murder on a holy day.
Mine is a heart of cornel, the gnarled roots of a dogwood and the bursting of flowers.
I am the broken wax seal on my lover's letters.
I am the phoenix, the fiery sun, consuming and resuming myself.
I pace the halls of the underworld. I knock on the doors of death.
I wander into the fields to stare at the sun and lie in the grass, ripe as a fig.
The souls of the gods are with me. They hum like flies in my ears.
I am I. I will what I will.
Mine is a heart of carnelian, blood red as the crest of a phoenix.

I like Moonstones rather, Amethysts, and Blue Zircons. Rubies are very pretty. Those probably would be my favorite gemstones although there is this stone from Australia I believe is called, "Sugarlite" i'm not sure if I spelled it right that comes in a close second.

Take a fire opal out in the sunlight, and watch it dance. It's dazzling.

I like onyx, snowflake obsidian, emerald, rose quartz, garnet, amber, rainbow tourmaline, and jade.

there are so many...

diamonds are nice, but I think over- marketed.

Jade is a good stone if you have trouble sleeping at night. Get a strand of small beads and wear it around your neck. Don't wear it at work, though unless you have a lot of tension.

It also comes in a lot of colours.

If you like things like that, you would love selenite. It has a spooky silvery glow when you hold it up to the light.

I have two favorites, and anything that combines the two I think is awwesome.

I love diamonds, and rubies, they have to be that deep blood red color and the diamands the clearest they can be!

In order of preference (1 being most preferred out of my Big Five):

1. Blue star sapphire (I have one set in a ring)
2. Iolite
3. Tanzanite
4. Amethyst
5. Garnet

I like topaz and turquoise, and though I wear both, they are stones that I can take or leave.

The only stones I don't like are golden, butter, and green amber (cherry amber is okay.... I have a necklace made of it), yellow topaz, citrine, hematite, and some kind of male-energy stone that Wanderer picked up to balance out the energy imbalance in our three-woman house. Those last two stones I can't even touch. Even the thought of touching them makes me queasy.

Without a doubt-bloodstone. (Strictly for sentimental reasons...) Not so long ago I learned of a spell to use a bloodstone to turn water red. I laughed it off as the typical hoax, but curiosity got the best of me and I performed the spell with hope in my heart. It worked! I guess I have bloodstone to thank for reaffirming my beliefs as a whole and giving the the strength and confidence to believe and trust in my own power.

Blue Adventurine. It looks like it has wee pieces of glitter in it.

And I LOVE Glitter! :D

Also Snowflake Obsidian, because it looks so unusual, Serpentine and moss agate are cool and Hematite, because it looks kinda metallic.

I really want to get my hands on Beryllium though, as it apparently appears red in natural light, and green in artificial light.

my very first stone that i picked up in high school was a snowflake obsidian (insidently, its the same stone the cat pick out the other day).

I'm drawn to amethyst frequently and any Jasper or agate stone i'm a sucker for. i just got a cappachino jasper a couple of weeks ago, its a great worry stone.

my general rock collection is growing, i pick them up a lot when i go for walks and such. i LOOOOVE the lake smoothed rocks by the ferry in town. they are so smooth and wonderful to handle.

I'm really fond of labradorite, clear quartz, orange calcite and amethyst. Labradorite always warms my spirit and makes me feel protected... clear quartz is just like this bright and clear presence inside of me... orange calcite makes me happy... and amethyst is intense and powerful. I have many more favourites apart from these four, but these are the stones I can't do without.

Mine's Hematite, just because of its energy. Wow, I pick the stuff up and it literally sends vibes through my hand and up my arm. I find it great for my Astral Travels :)

Up until a couple of years ago my two favorite stones were amethyst and garnet, also liked green jade.

But then I found my first piece of labradorite, an oddly-shaped specimen that looks for all the world like a viper's head, and ever since then I have been completely obsessed with that stone to the point of always carrying a piece with me or wearing a ring with it, or both.

If I got to a gem show, inevitably I end up carrying new ones home with me. It's like I am completely addicted to buying it, it sings such a siren's song to me.

It supposedly belongs to the light being Raphael, the healer and resonates strongly to the numbers 6,7, numbers which seem to be very important in my life at times. It's also a stone heavily associated with the sea, which I am always drawn to and the presence of which I cannot live without.
