I was doing show prep for my husband and I came across this ad for an interview of these people....I was surprised to see it and was wondering what everyone thought about it!!

INTERVIEW REAL LIFE WITCHES, Gavin Frost Ph.D. D.D and Yvonne Frost, D.D. The Founders of the Church and School of Wicca, Est. 1968 and authors of The Witch's Magical Handbook, hitting bookstores nationwide this October. With the popularity of TV shows like "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" and "Charmed," the interest in Wicca has grown tremendously but myths and misconceptions about the Wiccan religion are still out there. This Halloween, your listeners can get the basic facts about this wicca "craze" and even come away with a few neat spells. Whether it's to help get the attention of a special someone, improve their social life, improve their health and health of others, increase the passion in their relationships, or cleanse themselves of negativity and stress, Gavin and Yvonne can help your listeners achieve peace and balance in their lives. Plus it's funny for radio! How often do you get to interview real witches on Halloween? For example did you know: That licorice spices up a woman's sex drive? That Smoky Quartz wards off impotence? That Rose Quartz makes people more loving and also wards off heart disease? That the best way to add lust in the bedroom is to color it with reds and emerald green? That if you want some extra luck one should eat oatmean with brown sugar? Gavin and Yvonne are available for call in interviews.....

(this was for last year so I won't bother to post the dates.....)

parts of it make me happy to see....but parts of it make me angry....it's kind of a confusing add.....let me know what you think!!

I remember seeing their ads in the backs of magizines growing up. They have been in the public eye for a long time but other than that I know nothing about them.

I have seen these ads, and they are in the Enquirer and the Star also. No I do not buy them but in the Nursing Homes they are very popular and I read everything. I also have seen them in High Times, and the magazine I receive from Norml.

I just can't condone the glib usage of spells and the commercial way in which that was presented. It is a spriritual path, not some nifty trick to get someone to fall in love with you and win some money. I feel that this is as damaging, in a different way, than the lies that we eat our children and worship satan. It is presented in a way that suggests that we are no more legitimate than Cleo, and the Psychic friends.

They run the Church of Wicca... And A strange school it is... I think that it's mostly correspondence classes... Don't agree with their view of things, or the charges that they impose on the students, but then again, I would never take a correspondence class on something like that...

well..honestly... that seemed pretty silly... and rather than try and think of something worthwhile to say about it... i'd rather stick to... not saying much at all... but i will say... they are obviously trying desperately to make money off something that is a way of life for some people.. and that's sad... very sad.

Seemed more for the purpose of profit/ratings than teaching. All the "Didjaknows?" are about love and lust and impotence. Sex sells, I guess. ::Shrug::

I agree....I liked how it started off talking about how there are misconception and misunderstandings about it...but after that they lost me....I definately don't like the fact that their in the Enquirer and Star!!!

i suppose we all have to keep in mind... a magazine that features headlines like

"MICHAEL JACKSON decision to Become CATHOLIC PRIEST after seeing virgin MARY in his OATMEAL"
(not an actual headline, but a reasonable facsimilie)

would definitely have readers that think that you can become spiritually gifted after reading a book.

Those magazines THRIVE on spiritually weak people... so putting an add for so called "Instant Wicca, just add $29.95 +shipping and handling, and YOU TOO can be a WITCH with our super secret never been released to the public before sacred book of FOO FOO spells for the every day idiot"(once again, not an actual advertisement statement, but i'm sure it's just as stupid) is probably a great way to convince people that they too can be just like the girls in the craft.
