a fest-ing I will go
Hi-Ho the dairy-o, a fest-ing I will go!!!

:D :D :D Yay!!!! :D :D :D

I'm off to the fabulous Wic-Can Fest today!!! I don't suppose anyone else here at MysticWicks is going? :)

Anyone else here a fest-goer? (wink wink, nudge nudge) I'd love to hear about what fests you go or have gone to, your experiences there, etc. I'll be gone for a week, so I expect to see a full thread when I get back! :)

Wyrdsister, Fest Queen! (self-proclaimed, of course ;))

No, never... I like craft fayres and such because you always 'happen' upon a pagan stall somewhere, but I'm a little loathe to get involved with festivals - I'm very much a solitary, and I'm extremely happy like that, and I'm shy too!!

Just call me the Hermit!!!!

Kiya-- I read your post a bit too fast and was fully prepared to call you Kermit. :D

Haven't been to a fest yet. Although I'd like to eventually, I'm still a bit shy when it comes down to it.

Merry Meet all!

My neighbors go to Starwood every year. They have told us, every year *G*, we should really go. I was wondering if anyone from here has been to Starwood or a similar camping/week long festival. I would **love** to go but am concerned about the kids. Would they be able to handle a week camping trip? Is there enough to do for a 2 1/2 yo and a 5 yo? We will be 7 hours from home and can't just say, Oh Cait is having a rough time, oh well, we'll just go home." And I am also so new to Paganism?Wicca. Will I stand out like a sore thumb?

We really want to go but I am just not sure what to do. Thanks for any insight!

I would love to go to a Pagan Festival and everyone time whether it be Starwood, Craftwise or some other pagan festival, my plans fall through! One of these days!!!

Maybe try going to the Festival for a few days, instead of the entire week. I have heard that they have volunteeres that do daycare or entertainment for the children during the day. I have 2 young children also, so I know how tiring it can be taking care of them especially for a week long camping trip.

Hey Chris!

I have been to a few fests, but not Starwood. I hear Starwood is incredible, too, and I hope to make the trip south some day.

The fests that I've been to have varied in the availability of stuff to do for children, but the one I am leaving for today (!! yippie !!) has a great full-week children's program and daycare! This way you can attend as many workshops as you and your partner want during the day and your kids will be taken care off. Also, there is often musical entertainment in the evenings that kids might enjoy. And don't forget all of the other kids that will be there! You kids will definitely not be lonely! :)

If you check out the Starwood website (http://www.rosencomet.com/starwood.html), you can see that they have a kid's program (http://www.rosencomet.com/starwood2001/kids.html) too. There are also contact emails specifically for kid's program volunteers so you can ask questions about the program.

As for being new to Paganism, no, you will not stick out like a sore thumb! :) What I have found about festivals (the larger, the more true this is) is that the people as so incredibly diverse, that practically no one stands out more than anyone else! (maybe a few exceptions, but they tend to be on the more wild side :)) You can be guaranteed that at a fest as big as Starwood you and your family will not be the only "fest virgins" there!

Hope all of this helps!! And if you do go, I want to hear stories!!

Wyrdsister, off to Wic-Can Fest (http://www.wiccanfest.on.ca/)!!!

Hey Raevyn! We live rather close together! I'm in the Ottawa area as well... You could easily make it to Wic-Can Fest or Kaleidoscope - driving-distance wise, at least. :)

Great idea, Kaylara! Now, I don't suppose you know how to do that? :) I'm leaving my place in a matter of hours, so would I be able to charge you with asking the moderators if this merging of threads is possible?

Thanks in advance, and see everyone in a week!!

I checked the Starwood website, and for some reason I couldn't find exactly where it is. Anyone have any details?

Never been to one yet, but I am hoping to find one local to me soon. Been to things like Glastonbury, etc., in my younger days. Still spend at least four weekends a year out camping at live role plays. I would, however, like to share with others my spiritual side now. Just gotta go and find one close enough to visit.

I was just wondering about details for this year's Caduceus festival? My mom said there's a possibility I could go to a festival this summer on many terms and conditions, one of which being it must be in NJ. Anyway, I was just wondering about it. :)

Wyrdsister, how was Wic-Can Fest? I can't wait to hear the update. And great minds think alike- We were posting at the same exact time yesterday!
;)

Kaylara, I am interested in any info you have on Caduceus Festival too. Maybe if I can't make it to Starwod, I can do that instead.

MM,

I have been to a few in the last couple of years.
Especailly the Mind, Body and Spirit Festival in Melbourne (where I 1st found my path) and last year I went to the Magick Happens Festival just B4 xmas. They were great and popular. It was nice to be in surrounded by like- (as well as open-) minded people.

PS the Mind, Body and Spirit Festival is on this weekend and I am planning on going.

Alas, I am under my parents roof and they won't let me travel, nor do i have the money. But I'm almost 18 and I'm going to get a job and go to the Wic-Can fest ASAP.

There are also otherones I want to attend. Like the Heartland one.

Merry Meet, one and all!

I'm back from Wic-Can Fest (http://www.wiccanfest.on.ca/) and I had a wonderful time!! What a great place to be. I can't wait for the next fest in the season! :)

The next fest in my area would normally be Kaleidoscope (http://www.kaleidoscope-gathering.com/) but I heard at Wic-Can Fest that it may not be a go. Mind you, I just checked the web site and it said that Kaleidoscope IS on and NOT to doubt that. So we'll see. :) Also, if I don't get sick this year (knock on wood) I'm soooooo going to Harvestfest (http://www.wiccanfest.on.ca/harvestfest/index.htm), a corollory to Wic-Can Fest. (note: the Harvestfest page has not yet been updated for 2001)

Just wanted to say that I'm home safe and had a blast!!

BB, all,

I've been to the weekend campout called Pacific Circle here in southern California. It was GREAT. Everyone was so nice and friendly, I was so surprised! I didn't want to go back to the real world. I'm planning on moving to Kentucky within the next couple years, though, and I'm planning on attending PSG once I get on that side of the country. :)

I Have been to the Mind, Body, Spirit Fest and it is fantastic I had so much fun although it gets more and more expensive to get through the front door each year grrr, also been to a Yule Fest that is getting worse and more commercial bythe year and a moon gathering that I felt very uncomfortable being there with some of the people there whom I was quite scared of and I don't think my knees, hip or shoulder will ever be the same again...
