I just found this on one of the links dagda has posted up recently and thought Id honour it with a thread as these symbol, colour and moon phases interpretations are fun! :D
So what does everyone else think of these?
Do you agree or have different interpretations for the animals and symbols and colours in your deck?
Do some really jump out at you when you read?
Do you look for all the different symbols, colours and animals and take these into account when you read?

>Snake - wisdom and knowledge
a snake symbolised both flexibility and also looking for hidden intentions to me

>Mountains - Man's aspirations
Spot on!

>Mountains (snow capped) - God's aspirations for man
Interesting, hadn't thought of that! I just lumped it in with mountains :)

>Pyramids - That which is eternal
Powerful but benign secrets that carry the weight of time with them

>Fish - symbol of ordination of dedication to spiritual service, creativity, pregnancy
I agree - but the pregnancy thing I try to block out!!!!!!! :bigredgrin not quite ready for that yet!

>Birds - Animal symbol of Air, ideas, messages
Yep, my totem animal is a robin, whose appearance both in my thoughts and when I see him out the kitchen window always precedes a message from my God or Goddess

>Water - reflection, receptivity and the subconscious
Also represents energy to me - i see energy as a 'flow' like a river

>Right side of the body - male, out going, future, aware, conscious mind
>Left side of the body - female, receptive, past, subconscious mind
Ah yes, only really thought about this when I got involved with the Tarot. I've started using my right hand to cut for men, and my left to cut for women. It's an experiment!!

>Holly - Christmas - birth
giving shelter and peace to those in need

>Palm - Easter - resurrection - severity
Don't relate to that - palms just symbolise summer hols for me!

>Olive - peace - mercy
definitely, also the offer of friendship

>Red - Desire, energy, aggression
Orange - Strength, energy, social
Yellow - Mind, thought, expanded perspective
Green - Balance, harmony, healing, prosperity
Blue - Faith, peace, serenity, patience
Purple - Spirituality, penitence, and forgiveness
White - Purity, light of perfect wisdom, light of God
Black - unknown, shadow, mysterious, protection
Grey - Reconciliation of opposites; neutral; uncertainty
Aurabora - Enlightenment, purity of thought, promise of peace

Oh yes, these are pretty well what I've been learning. I want to spend some time meditating and really feeling the colours, and I would like to start using colours in my candle magick (I just use white right now.)

I find that a particular colour or reference does jump out - for instance I did a reading and the Ace of Wands came up. Now on my deck, the background is orange, the wand is white and red and there are flames licking around the base of the hand holding the wand. All I could see was the red, even though this is not the dominant colour. I felt this meant the person needed to put every ounce of his passion and creativity into his efforts, and really go over the top with what he was doing that week.

hmmm oki, about the colors... :)

To red I'd also add passion... :)
Orange is also knowledge to me
Yellow I'd add travel to that list...
Green also has to do with money for me, but well prosperity... sort of the same thing I guess... :) And I place love here, well as in the love we have for our family and friends
Blue is healing (aswell as green is to me)

Purple, white, black and grey I haven't got much to add... and aurabora, what color is that?

As for pink that stands for love between to persons...

Well, hmmm when I come to think of it, I read in more to this colors than I just mentioned, but generally this is what I feel about thease colors. :)

Blessed be

My take on the symbols....

Okay first of all....I can't seem for the life of think of what Yod looks like.....is it the "Y" where the "-" intersects at the connection of the stem to the V ? (what a morning! )

Snake: Territorial, reactive, temptation.

Mountains: challenges

Snow-capped Mountains: adventure

Pyramids: hard work, endurance.

Yods: ? (clueless)

Fish: nothing coming to mind at moment....I think it would depend on what type of fish....and how big/small it is.

birds: see fish

Water: Emotions, subconscious.

R-Body: Dominant, contolling, action

L-Body: submissive, intuitive, non-action...passive

shoes: see fish

wreath: completion of cycles, wholeness, attainment

ships at sea: adventure, exploration, hard work but worth the effort.

Okay.....that's all I can work on at the moment. I may come back and post more later. :D

Ok and so the symbols:

Snake: temptation, knowledge, hidden intentions, territiorial.

Mountains: challenge and also aspiration

Snow capped mountains.... never thought of that in a sense that it might make a different meaning then just mountains... however I think challenges that are tougher...

Pyramids: balance, perfection, hard work, some sort of eternal feeling also comes here... or perhaps something that remains for a long long time..

Yod: Don't know what that is...

Fish: element of water of course, a sense of being free perhaps, calm, serenity, creativity, pregnancy perhaps...
Why do I associate fish with pregnancy? I don't know that... hmm maybe because the little baby swims in her mothers womb :)

Birds: element of air, messenger, ideas etc. Well i am not sure here, different birds may have different associations aswell, a crow is different than a hawk... and a sparrow different than a raven...

Water: reflections, subconscious, calm, serenity or energy depending on the water, it might aslo be wild... emotions definitly...

Right side of the body: dominant, logical, intellectual

Left side of the body: receptive, intuitive, creative, emotional

shoes:? well never thought about shoes before, but well I'll give it a try... hmmm let me see, experiences, wandering, the ability to understand others feelings etc.

wreath: hmmm whats that? gotta look it up in my dictionary... ooooh I see, I should have known that one (it is not always easy having swedish for my first language and discussing in another...) ok, completion, circles, winnings, conquering, success, wholeness, victory, at the top of something (having completed something... and have gotten more wise from it..)

Ships at sea: travelling, beyond reach, adventures, hard work, motions

Ok that'll be all for now :)

Blessings

Okay, I found out what the Yod is. If you will look back to our lessons of the majors, and look at the pictures Tower and Moon, Yod are the "drops of light" "~" (they look similar to rain drops coming down.)

Just found quite allot of interesting stuff actually ~
got this from this page which is brill for the cards ~
http://www.astrologyzine.com/tower.shtml

Have you ever heard the expression "The Finger of God"? In Astrology, a certain angle or "aspect" between two heavenly bodies and a third one is called "a Yod", or "The Finger of God" -- though some call it "The Finger of Fate". Now if you look closely at The Tower card, you will see many little symbols which look like raindrops (in the shape of an apostrophe, or the black section of the yin/yang Tao symbol). These are called "yods", and a Yod is actually a letter in the ancient Hebrew alphabet. Yod is also the first letter of the Hebrew word for Jehovah -- Yod-He-Vah-He.

It is a symbol for God, in the same way that the first letter of the Greek alphabet, Alpha, and the last letter, Omega, is a symbol which Christ used to describe himself: "I am the Alpha and the Omega" -- the Beginning and the End. In other words, Christ (and God) is "everything" -- omnipresent, everywhere, in everything and in everyone.

The realization and belief in this is "the at-one-ment". In "A Course In Miracles" the times we achieve atonement are called "The Holy Instant" -- that instant in time where we actually remember that we are all One and not separate from one another, when we look upon a brother with Love and see him or her as being "at one" with ourselves -- and all of us innocent and always loved and loving. For a brief instant, it is as if we are in Heaven gazing upon the face of God, and when we experience these brief glimpses of the Truth, we feel an ecstatic rush unlike anything else we normally experience here in The Illusion we call "the material world" -- unlike anything except those other rare instances when we allow ourselves to extend or receive Love in any of its myriad of forms, one of which is true sexual union. Another would be the sense of Awe on seeing the magnificent Beauty of a sunrise, or being touched in our soul by a beautiful song, or feeling true Compassion for a brother who is truly suffering.

-----------------
& from this site http://www.tryskelion.com/moon.htm
which is actually about the moon card ~ it says ~
Nine Yods: These can be symbolic of two things. First, they can be seen as tears of joy at the new awareness found after inner exploration. Second, they can be seen as tears of heartache and pain that accompany the journey

:D
