Vinegar is a mainstay of the old folk recipes for cleaning,
and with good reason. The vim of the vinegar is that it
kills bacteria, mold, and germs. Heinz company spokesperson
Michael Mullen references numerous studies to show that a
straight 5 percent solution of vinegar - such as you can buy
in the supermarket - kills 99 percent of bacteria, 82
percent of mold, and 80 percent of germs (viruses). Click

I dilute white vinegar with water to use as an indoor ant spray.. It does a good job, without all the chemicals and smell. This was especially importanst when one of my daughters was young. Sprays set off asthma attacks for her, the vinegar/water didn't.

My three older children are allergic to soaps and we have used a bit of vinegar and baking soda in their bathwater for years. It also makes a good detangling rinse for hair and takes the soap residue out. Putting it in the rinse cycle of your laundry is also good. It takes out the mineral deposits in the machine and it takes the soap out of the clothes. Don't forget to soak shower heads in it from time to time to take off mineral deposits and run it through the coffee maker for the same reason. :)

This may be a silly question, but.... wouldn't that leave you smelling like a salad??? :D
After reading this post, I used vinnegar to clean off my cutting board that had raw chicken sitting on it. When my hubby came home he gave me a hug and promptly backed away saying "Pleh!! You smell like vinegar!" hehe. After a reaction like that I don't think I'd put it in my bath, or in the laundry!

Better vinagar than bo and urine from when they were younger.:D A good rinse will help and the baking soda in both laundry and tub nutralize the smell.
