Just came across this from a blog link, and it's brilliant!

Designed by Amber Dorko Stopper and Megan Leigh Dorko, this deck is a reimagining of tarot symbolism using the greatest icons from the decade of excess!

At first it just seemed funny, but as I read through the cards (this is a full deck, not just major arcana), I was struck by how thoughtful each choice was, and how well each card fits its traditional meaning. Ferris Bueller as the Fool, Morrissey as the Hermit, and Cyndi Lauper as the Sun are just a few of the clever images in this deck. Enjoy!

(Note: Those of you in the under-25 set may not be able to identify many of the characters depicted in this deck. I, not having been much of a New Wave fan in my youth, was only familiar with about 75% of them.)

i'm curious though (since they didnt show the whole deck) if they used such bands as siouxsie and the banshees, kate bush, the jam, huskerdu, the church, psychedelic furs, blackflag, x, inxs...
hope so. i couldnt imagine the 80's without them!!!!

I wouldn't mind a deck like that either. Not so much as a tarot deck, but the 80s is the "deck-aid" I grew up in. ;)

Amazing.

I remember the 1960s, the 70s, AND the 80s, but most of the people in this deck are totally unfamiliar or unheard of to me.

Not putting this one on my wish list! (But I wouldn't mind owning the Rock 'n Roll Tarot!)

oh come on tarotbear, you MUST remember them. there's alot of huge names on that list! (but although the name rings a bell, Alison Moyet has me stumped).

it's great to see Peter Gabriel as Judgement, but Robert Smith (the Cure) is way to weenie to be Death. and Peter Murphy (Bauhaus) is the perfect Tower. however, NOBODY but Kate Bush could be the High Priestess!

i like it, but there's no way in hell i'd ever buy it! (lol)

LOL, that is so cute! I would absolutely buy that deck for my roommate, he's stuck in the 80s and he'd love it. *chuckle*
