Do you want specifically Pagan spellbooks, or just spellbooks in general? Any particular moral set you adhere to? (i.e. Wiccan spellbooks don't have traditional love spells...this the type of book you're looking for?)

I voted "I dunno" on the poll...I'm not sure exactly how big a mile is. The closest specifically metaphysical bookstore near me is a ten or fifteen minute busride from me. There's another about a half hour busride away, and another that's around a forty-five minute ride away. These would be about ten, fifteen, and twenty minutes away respectively if I had a car, lol.

My local mundane bookstores (Indigo/Chapters)carry a wide variety of metaphysical books...and a lot of what they don't have in store is available for order (no shipping charges if you have it delivered to the store) from their website.

On the subject of spellbooks, although I own a few so I'm not trying to dissuade you from buying them, they aren't a truly neccessary thing to have. If you aren't comfortable writing spells for yourself, you can find countless grimores online...you're just as likely to find the spell you need on the net as in a book.

**counting in my head**

Um... three, four, yep about five miles to the nearest Pagan bookstore for me. If you check out WitchVox.com they have good listings for local shops (click here: http://www.witchvox.com/wotw/xshops.html ) or online book shopping (click here: http://www.witchvox.com/xmerchants.html )

The closest Pagan supply store to me is over an hour away.
With the price of gas being what it is, it's cheaper for me to buy on-line and I usually do. :weirdsmil

There's kind of a mediocre pagan shop by my old high school, within walking distance... But the Barnes and Noble and Borders around here actually have a better selection of "mainstream" Pagan books, the shop near me focuses mostly on Voudoun and Hermetic topics.
I know of some good Pagan shops in San Diego if you're anywhere near there, there's quite a few both downtown and in Oceanside.

I live 20 minutes from the nearest town--small town--so no Pagan store, not even a bookstore. The nearest bookstore is about 45 minutes away, but they do have a good selection of Pagan books. When it comes to spells, I create my own. I may use a published one for inspiration though.

I have a wonderful shop by me. It's more than a shop though, they hold classes, Reiki, all sorts of things.

If your Barnes & Noble doesn't carry what you are looking for, they can order it for you, The one I go to has a pretty large section located in the religion section of the store.

IMO however, once you get the feel of writing your own spells and rituals, they seem to work better than something generic out of a book.

The only shop near me isn't really a Pagan shop, more of a crystals, incense, and hippy knick-knack shop, but the lady who runs it really knows her stuff. They have a few books, but they are mainly geared towards healing, meditation and 'mind, body and soul' books. They do Reiki there as well though, but the best part is that it's on my bus route to work! :D

I live in a "small" town... and there is a pagan store with very nice owners.

They just don't have a very good selection of books. Mostly introductions to Wicca and a few herbal books. Nice selection of jewelry though.

I get my books from Barnes and Nobles-who do have a pretty good selection once in a while lol- and Borders (who have a great variety!). Plus Amazon.com is my best friend lol.

I live in a college town. The college bookstore has a handful of items but nothing to get excited about. There use to be a couple of stores here in town that carried a decent selection of stuff for pagan supplies and books. One went out of business, because of lack thereof. The other went out of business because the owner wanted out. Otherwise, I drive 40 miles.

our closest is about 20 minute car ride in rural NY...but the owners will order anything you want, very cool store!

we have a borders 30 minutes from home (highway traffic) but their selection is not as good as the barnes and noble in burlington Vt (1 1/4 hours away).

Not within two miles, no. If you'd asked me two months ago, I could have said yes - there was one just up the street from my place! But it's closed since then. :( There are a few pagany places in town, but they are about a 30 min car ride, 1 hour bus ride away.
