I did a quick search for where to post this and I couldn't decide where best it fit.

I was curious to hear of other people's paranormal experiences. I have had several--they almost always happen at historic sites, battlefields, or in buildings.
The strongest experience I've had to date was when I was last in Gettysburg and I saw a face in the window of a sotre (it was after closing and the place was locked up tight). The next day I went back to that store and I found that it was the building in which Lincoln spent the night before delivering the Gettysburg address. But the face I saw definitately had not been Lincoln's.
That day we went up to a tour of the rooms Lincoln spent the night. At the very top of the stairs was a huge portrait and it was of the person I saw in the window. I couldn't believe it, I sort of hyperventilated and felt queasy. Come to find out the man in the picture was Lincoln's personal body guard. I had never seen or heard of this man before or since. It was the strangest experience and one of the most frightening (because I thought I was going delusional!) that I've ever had.

I would love to hear others' stories of experiences they have had!

I've never been strongly sensitive to people ghosts, however since I have moved to a house built in 1876, I've become more aware of them.

We were having a birthday party for Eric's (my boyfriend's) brother, Julian. The family was gathered around the dinner table, talking as they do about politics and history. I slipped away to put away some laundry in the next room. Between the dining room and the room I was in, is a landing at the top of the stairs. The first thing one sees upon entering the house is a bathroom door.

I can see that door from the room I was in, and could hear everyone talking in the dining room. I was paying attention to what I was doing, but I saw, out of the corner of my eye, someone go into the bathroom, but not close the door.

When I finished folding clothes, I looked into the dining room and everyone was there. There was no one in the bathroom.

I related this to my guests who said it was probably Eric and Julian's father, who died two years ago of lung cancer. Julian had been his favorite, the youngest of three sons. Their mother said she sensed him around a lot.

It was also a full moon.

I don't believe I've ever seen a ghost, but I have felt their presence here and there in my travels.

Hopefully this isn't getting off the subject...

I often go to Antique stores to just look around, and on occassion actually buy something. Anyway, there are times I get readings off of different objects. Especially furniture...

There was this one particular store that I would haunt about once a month. It was filled with mostly furniture from Europe. Some of the pieces looked like they belonged in an old manor or castle at one time or another.

On this one particular visit I got this heavy feeling from the back of the store. My senses told me not to go near that area, so I walked around it. Soon I spotted an old, old heavily decorated armoire located in the back and I immediately knew that it was causing my senses to go a hay wire.

I avoided going near it and anywhere in the vicinity of it. The air around it was just heavy and dreadful!

The following months while it was still there, I avoided the back area as usual. Even if I didn't see it, I could feel its presence!

Recently I went back to the store because a few online friends of mine who are into ghost hunting talked me into going and touching the armoire to see if I could get any images from it. So I mustered up my courage and walked back into the Antique store... And about half way to the back area, I realized it was gone.

Whoever bought it was obviously not sensitive enough or something. That armoire creeped me out! :yikes:

I've had a few similar experiences in other antique stores, but that one was the worst. I always seem to pick up on the negative stuff. Not sure why... :whatgives:
