I just had to share this…
Today I had my very first Reiki treatment. I have been doing some chakra alignment for a while now and some posts out here on MW kind of pointed me at Reiki. A book and a handful of websites later I managed to line up this first Reiki treatment. Also I should add that I have now heard and I have been told that results vary from person to person on their first treatments…so take that with a grain of salt. Also…I have always been fairly sensitive to energy. In other words – your mileage may vary.
My Reiki healer, also a MW member but I will leave it to her to announce herself if she wishes, has her level 3 certification and is working toward her master. She began with her hands cupped over my eyes. Almost immediately her hands became very very warm…not uncomfortable…about like a heating pad for example. Very shortly after this I had a rather intense sensation. I could literally feel my solar plexus chakra spinning…like there was a lil tornado over that point. I also had some loss of breath…not a bad thing by any means. It was like when you step out into a cold wind and it kinds sucks the breath out of ya…but without the cold. Very interesting sensation!
As she worked through the different head, crown and throat positions I had very powerful sensations of vibrations. These were shared by the healer apparently. Just vibration…that doesn’t really do it justice…but it’s the best thing I can come up with to describe it. They did feel absolutely wonderful though.
When she reached my heart chakra, in addition to the overall wonderful vibrations I began to experience mini muscle spasms in my legs and my muscles in the back of my legs and buttocks also contracted themselves…it was almost like I was hooked up to a tens (tins? That lil’ machine that gives the muscles mild electrical current) machine but there was no pain at all.
Apparently the chakra work I have been doing has been helping a bit as I gather that my chakra points were open. That is till we came to the back heart position…this is when the healer told me that this point felt cool to her…meaning this point was stopped up. I store my tension in my shoulders/neck. Always have…and I always struggle with this. She picked it up instantly. After the session I had a very odd sensation…if you have ever bathed in champagne it felt like that (tickling bubbling sensation)…only IN my upper back and neck area.
The vibrations continued the whole way through…what a wonderful sensation that is. I could easily get addicted to that feeling. :D
After the session I felt …well…loopy. It was like I had a couple glasses of wine. I also truly felt as if I had just been given one of the best full body massages of all time. Of course Reiki is nothing like massage. But it was that same sensation.
Had I realized it at the time I should have done a grounding exercise…I think that would have helped with the loopy feeling. Eating a bite of lunch fixed that up on its own though.
Throughout the day I had the text book ‘detox’ symptoms that most of the books/websites talk about after your first treatment. Minor sweating, the loopy feeling…I even had a mild bit of nausea until I ate. Even now I am still having intermittent ‘bubbling’ in my shoulders and neck. I also really need a shower. It feels a lot like post massage…where the masseuse literally rubs toxins out of your body. Right after this post I am going to take a shower. ;-)
Anyway…I just felt compelled to post this out here. This was an incredible and powerful experience! If you havent done so already...I would HIGHLY recommend that you investigate Reiki.
Thank you so much Mrs. Reiki Healer!! (((((((((hug)))))))))
