I just had to share this…

Today I had my very first Reiki treatment. I have been doing some chakra alignment for a while now and some posts out here on MW kind of pointed me at Reiki. A book and a handful of websites later I managed to line up this first Reiki treatment. Also I should add that I have now heard and I have been told that results vary from person to person on their first treatments…so take that with a grain of salt. Also…I have always been fairly sensitive to energy. In other words – your mileage may vary.

My Reiki healer, also a MW member but I will leave it to her to announce herself if she wishes, has her level 3 certification and is working toward her master. She began with her hands cupped over my eyes. Almost immediately her hands became very very warm…not uncomfortable…about like a heating pad for example. Very shortly after this I had a rather intense sensation. I could literally feel my solar plexus chakra spinning…like there was a lil tornado over that point. I also had some loss of breath…not a bad thing by any means. It was like when you step out into a cold wind and it kinds sucks the breath out of ya…but without the cold. Very interesting sensation!

As she worked through the different head, crown and throat positions I had very powerful sensations of vibrations. These were shared by the healer apparently. Just vibration…that doesn’t really do it justice…but it’s the best thing I can come up with to describe it. They did feel absolutely wonderful though.

When she reached my heart chakra, in addition to the overall wonderful vibrations I began to experience mini muscle spasms in my legs and my muscles in the back of my legs and buttocks also contracted themselves…it was almost like I was hooked up to a tens (tins? That lil’ machine that gives the muscles mild electrical current) machine but there was no pain at all.

Apparently the chakra work I have been doing has been helping a bit as I gather that my chakra points were open. That is till we came to the back heart position…this is when the healer told me that this point felt cool to her…meaning this point was stopped up. I store my tension in my shoulders/neck. Always have…and I always struggle with this. She picked it up instantly. After the session I had a very odd sensation…if you have ever bathed in champagne it felt like that (tickling bubbling sensation)…only IN my upper back and neck area.

The vibrations continued the whole way through…what a wonderful sensation that is. I could easily get addicted to that feeling. :D

After the session I felt …well…loopy. It was like I had a couple glasses of wine. I also truly felt as if I had just been given one of the best full body massages of all time. Of course Reiki is nothing like massage. But it was that same sensation.

Had I realized it at the time I should have done a grounding exercise…I think that would have helped with the loopy feeling. Eating a bite of lunch fixed that up on its own though.

Throughout the day I had the text book ‘detox’ symptoms that most of the books/websites talk about after your first treatment. Minor sweating, the loopy feeling…I even had a mild bit of nausea until I ate. Even now I am still having intermittent ‘bubbling’ in my shoulders and neck. I also really need a shower. It feels a lot like post massage…where the masseuse literally rubs toxins out of your body. Right after this post I am going to take a shower. ;-)

Anyway…I just felt compelled to post this out here. This was an incredible and powerful experience! If you havent done so already...I would HIGHLY recommend that you investigate Reiki.

Thank you so much Mrs. Reiki Healer!! (((((((((hug)))))))))

Vibrations, eh? I've always described this as "tingling". And feeling loopy afterwards is quite normal. That is why your Reiki practicioner will have you take some time to come back into the here-and-now and sit up slowly while s/he supports you. A little snack is just as good for grounding after this kind of energy work as any other. So ~
are you gonna take the class and get your attunements too?

Good for you! I'm looking into signing up for a reiki class in my area. I've been told that it is very worthwhile. :)

Thank gods I've recently been trained in CPR for my new job, I thought I was gonna have to use it :T

Thanks so much, Toad, for your incredible feedback. This treatment was also an awesome experience for me, since Toad was just vibrating everywhere, and I had something very different occur when I was treating his crown chakra position. I just felt this incredible openness, the best way to describe it is that it just felt like the whole top of his head was wide open. This is someone who is definitely ready for Reiki and is going to be an awesome healer!

Reiki is amazing, I went to a class at a new age store near where I live last fall, there were only three people in the class, so it was a very personal lesson, and though I'm not very good at it, reiki has helped me sooo much! I have a problem with my left knee, something similar to arthiritis...some of the cartilidge is gone, and it can be very painful sometimes, especially when I'm running, or walking a lot... Now, it was hurting pretty bad during this class, and when we had to come up to the table so that the teacher could demonstrate something, I guess I was limping a little bit...Next thing I knew I was up on the table getting a Reiki treatment on my leg... remember, this was a half a year ago: it has never hurt me so bad to the point of limping since I had this done to me! I love reiki so much, and I wish I could do it... now all I need is a car to drive the 45 miles to the nearest semi-large town to take another class!! *pout* Anyway, there's my story. ^_^ Just had to share it.

Thanks for sharing your experience, Saiya00. I felt that I should mention that Reiki doesn't always affect the physical. I shared with Toad during his session that after one of the first treatments I experienced, my entire life seemed to fall apart about a week later. This was all for the best, as everything was replaced with something far more positive, including Flar.......

Reiki can also be applied to situations and even inanimate objects. I recently was using Reiki regularly on my poor car, which was badly in need of work for which there wasn't enough money. It developed a problem that couldn't wait - the two front tires. The guy who looked at them told me that I was fortunate that I had not had two blowouts or worse, since they were so bad that the steel belts were visible. I've heard similar stores about Reiki and cars from lots of other people.

Well, i can assure you that i am no Reiki master, although my aunt is and she recently attuned me to reiki I. For my attunement, i could feel the presence of the guides she and I invoked, including our life guides, and the spirit of Dr. Usui. Afterwards i felt the usual ( but not always) hot hands, and i felt a tingling near my heart area.
