Hi I'm new to this website and I just wanted to ask a question about what it takes to be a pagan?
I've been reading some things on the site and I'm quite confused, but im definatly open to listening to peoples religions.
I wanted to know how do you become a pagan?
who and what do you worship?
how is it similar and how is it different from other religions?
i cant think of anything else, but if anybody could break it down for me that would be great.
thanx alot

Simply put, Paganism is used to describe many religions. A Pagan is anyone whose religion is not that of a Christian, Jewish, Catholic nature and usually polytheist, which means you worship more than one god. There are many Pagan religions.
To "become" a Pagan is to follow your own path - not one that has been mapped out by others, IMO anyway. It will probably take you awhile, but brouse through here and you will get a really good idea. There are many thread on this question, and the people here are quite amazing in their knowledge and intellect.

Paganism includes many different religions each with their own ideas of God, beliefs, and rituals. Wicca is the most common form, and focuses on a connection with the Divine as a God and Goddess. The God and Goddess are found in nature (like some people associate the sun with the god, and the moon with the goddess) and Wiccans celebrate sabbats (holidays) to mark the turning of seasons (since the God and Goddess are in nature, the turning of seasons is like their own lives - being born, growing, becoming old, etc.).

You might also wish to take a look at the pages at http://religioustolerance.org (look at the Pagan and the Witchcraft and Wicca pages, in specific). That site is designed to help explain the basics about different religions, and it has some good basic information about different religions within the broad grouping of 'Pagan'

well, i think a lot of valid information was given in the posts above, as well as some great links.
but keep in mind, you don't have to be stuck in a particular path to fit in here. everyone is welcome at MW, we all respect one another and share our thoughts and feelings on not only our religious paths, but about life in general. I hope you found answers to your questions from the links/posts above!

I Really Love all the responses :) Those sites are awesome ones to check out :)
Also; head to Barnes and Noble or Borders Books and check out the "New Age" religion Section. It has everything from Buddhism, to Wiccan, to Shaman and everything in between!
Paganism is about finding what is right for you; getting in touch with yourself, and finding your faith; even if it doesn't fit in a "box"!
Best of Luck!
