" LONDON (Reuters) - Paganism and the ancient art of witchcraft are on the rise, experts say, as the summer's most celebrated Pagan festival approaches."

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=857&ncid=757&e=10&u=/nm/20030619/od_uk_nm/oukoe_religion_britain_witchcraft

From the same story,

"Fresh back from a trip to Scotland to lift an old hex from the Loch Ness Monster, ['King' Kev] warned teenagers against joining witch covens too young.

"There are some bloody weird people out there," he said. "

Agreed! There is nothing quite so funny as the King of Weirdos saying, "Watch out, there're some bloody weird people out there."

Maybe the reason Paganism is catching on is because, unlike other Western religious systems, it doesn't pile guilt on your shoulders and tell you "Only God can solve your problems, and only we can tell you who God really is." People have gotten tired of that.

Maybe it's catching on simply because it makes sense to people :)

I am sooooo annoyed by Kevin Carlyon, I can't even say. And does he know how silly he looks running around in those white robes? Please - I'd say he has Guilderoy Lockhart syndrome, but Lockhart was actually good looking and charismatic, regardless of the fact that he was a schmuck. Kev doesn't even have that going for him.

Kevin Carolyn... :geez:
Does this guy ever stop?!? How did he get so well known? I'm not sure about the rest of the pagans out there, but he does not represent what I believe. Like I said before,he should stop smoking prozac! I think he does it for the money, because he doesn't look serious to me at all.
And what's wrong with wierdos? I like being wierd! :eyebro:

He's a total nutbag who calls himself the "High Priest of British White Witches". The biggest deal is that he's a total media hound who somehow manages to get his name in the papers all the damn time. Every time there's a news story involving paganism, "King Kev" is right there to say something stupid and completely inappropriate.

Here's his website: http://www.kevwitch.co.uk/ -- It contains founts of wisdom like the following:

Unlike other Witches, (I prefer the term Practitioner of Earth Magic) I can safely claim that I have a 98% success rate - not my claim but the comments of media sources and individuals worldwide. Along with members of my group, The Covenant of Earth Magic, I have appeared on worldwide television, including my recent visit to Loch Ness (http://www.lochness.co.uk/) to perform a spell to stop ’Nessie’ (http://www.lochness.co.uk/) from being harmed or caught. Swedish journalist, turned ’scientist’ , Jan Sundberg happened to be there at the same time. His expedition proved fruitless and rather foolish against my use of ’Earth Magic’ which was seen by millions of viewers around the world.

Surely a result of King Kev's spell, what with all the scientists that have launched successful expeditions to find Nessie, right?

You've got to be kidding me?!? I hadn't heard of him either, and after the short quote from Ben, I didn't even bother checking out the website. The loch ness has been talked about for how long? Was there ever a danger of it being caught or harmed. Thank god/dess he did that spell! Who knows what would have happed to poor "Nessie" if he hadn't! If I did that kind of magick I'd have a 100% success rate! hahahahaha

That's right, the guy must be some powerful magician to manage to hide a creature that no one really believes exists. For his next trick, he's going to make sure that nobody can find Atlantis.

I'm reminded of the old Bert & Ernie bit:

Bert: Ernie, what are you doing with that banana in your ear?

Ernie: It keeps away the alligators.

Bert: What on earth are you talking about?

Ernie: Do you see any alligators around?

Bert: ....No.

Ernie: See? Must be working!

Thanks Ben... I needed that laugh! Oooooh, how 'bout the Garden of Eden... think he can protect that from detection as well? If so, and living in Florida, I'm gonna have to stock up on bananas!

8O I believe in Nessie! LoL anyway, I didn't even know who this psycho is, but reading these quotes, I'm glad I didn't. It's people like him who need to be drug outside and shot. I mean...um...um...LOOK NESSIE! *points and runs*

People are tired of it because, frankly, people are lazy and would rather not be held accountable for... well, pretty much anything.
