Ok before everyone thinks I'm buggin...this Goddess workout is a video that my friend gave me for my birthday. It's a bellydancing video with a cd. I checked out the video a couple of days ago and it's wonderful. I'm not a great dancer (actually a little spastic) but I really got into this, with the music and the movements and all. Anyway, I incorporated the music and movements into my full moon ritual last night...what a wonderful experience...I felt so alive and beautiful and totally connected to the Goddess. Just wanted to share.
Blessed Be,

I do the tribal goddess dancing, myself ~ and it's totally awesome. It's a great way to commune. :D

I was lucky ~ I have a friend who has done this for years, and we dance in her backyard or livingroom (weather permitting). :D It's not that difficult to find, but there is a difference between caberet and tribal ~ and for the Goddess/spirituality, you want to find someone who does the tribal dance.
Fat Chance Belly Dance (I think they're in CA) is one of these tribes. They have several video tapes on the market which are very simple to follow.
FWIW ~ you don't have to be skinny as a rail to do this. IMHO, the bigger the better! :p :p You gotta have a belly and hips to move around!

The video I have is basically a workout video...but the tribal dancing sounds great. I will definitely have to check it out.
The web site is www.goddessworkout.com they have clothing too. I wish I could make my own. Maybe I'll give it a shot. I think a bunch of scarves sewn together with another one at the waist will work.

My friend who sells the tribal garb on Ebay. It's cheap, too.

That Goddess workout looks really great! She has a great website and video clips. It looks good for selfconscious people, like me, to get into bellydancing. I've been looking for a new workout since I haven't been able to get to the gym. Thanks so much! :D

Hi,
I've become obsessed with this bellydancing, I find myself walking around doing it while I'm cleaning or even standing at the sink doing dishes. It is a good workout, but not too harsh, I can do it every day I've finally found something to motivate me. Maybe I'll actually make it to the gym one of these days!!
Happy bellydancing:D

I got the Goddess workout video today and after my baby went down for his nap I popped it in. It is so great. The warmup itself is fab! I really liked it! Thank you so much Laiste for posting this!
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
*HUGS AND KISSES* :D :D :D :D :D
She explains how the movements open up the chakras and has a nice opening piece. And about 2 levels, at least, of difficulty. Since I've just started working out after my baby was born, over a year ago (shame on me!), some of it was difficult and some was plain immpossible without alot of thought. It helps target those muscles you didn't even know you had, I had to keep thinking of them to get them working. It is fabulous and I am very excited about it. I would recomend it to everybody but if you don't like exercise and want to take a chance its only about $24 with shipping. If you want to do it with a friend, make sure they don't mind New Age and Goddess stuff, she mentions it alot. One other great thing about it is you never have to get on the floor! Ugh I hate that!
So PM me in about a month to see if I'mm still doing it and if I've gotten any better at it. That will be the true test! :D

Bummer, I don't have the right software to run the clips... oh well... I might try this anyway, looks like fun and I haven't done much dancing lately, always wanted to try bellydancing. I have an "instinctive" dancing which I've done in the past, just going with the flow of music, which I think is a little similar, past life instinct perhaps?? hehe ;)
If you are looking for a great workout to do in the home, I recently got "Walk Away the Pounds" by Leslie Sansome. it is FABULOUS! I do it every day and I feel SO GOOD! She has three videos, and it's basically marching on the spot with a bit of side stepping here and there, a little front kicking at times, and knee ups, but MOSTLY walking, which is the good thing. The pack I had came with three videos - the 1 mile walk, 2 mile walk and then 3 mile walk (for when you REALLY get used to it). There are also weight-balls (1lb each) which you use, and they add extra to the workout. The whole set cost me about $40 plus s/h It's well worth it!

Hi Sahm,
I'm glad you got bit by the bellydancing bug...enjoy.
By the way don't feel bad about taking a year after the baby to get into working out again. My son is eight and I've yet to really stick with something. I think this bellydancing thing is it for me. I actually went to the gym yesterday because my energy levels are back up.
And Lilu...your video set sounds great too. Any ideas on where to get it?

Laiste,
I found this website, which is the same package deal I got.
http://www.walkawaythepounds.net
They seem to have several sets, but their basic one is the one I have, and it's good. Their price is $39.95 plus s/h of about $12
I also found this site, which I'm told has cheaper s/h but I haven't bought from there.
http://www.collage-video.com/ (You need to do a search for Item Number or Title "Walk Away the Pounds"... they have a lot of stuff by Leslie too, but you want the Walk Away the Pounds deal which is again, $39.95.
I think the toll free # off the infomercial is 1-800-520-2882 to order by phone.
