I personally agree w/self dedication, but the forces in my life (small town, blah blah) have colored my belief in self dedication. Others insist that It must be done in a certain way and/or time by a person holding a specific function in a specifally labled group. Etc. However, much of the pagan community today (in my experience) welcomes self dedication. Some do it because there are no other options, and some because they prefer it that way. Finding a group or coven is like trying to find a new family, and all that goes with it. Some people just have a hard time fitting into the jigsaw puzzle, and so self dedication is the answer. As long as you are sincere, I don't see any harm in it... but you need to do some soul searching to insure that you are sincere. If fear of not being good enough because of not being dedicated is holding you back from learning and growing in the pagan community (or by yourself, as the case may be) then by all means, please dedicate! Do not let you be your biggest obstical!

Be sure to determine what or who you are dedicating to. Don't just do it for the sake of doing it, or thinking you have to to be a real Wiccan. Dedicate yourself ritually because you already feel that you have done so inside your heart.
