Hi All,

I was wondering... do most of you adhere ONE pantheon, or many? And is this tradition-dependant?

Thanks,

Brightest Blessings!

For the most part, as far as Druidry is concerned, (ime) this is tradition-dependent. In our Tradition, the pantheon we "worship" is a Welsh-Celtic ~ which includes Gaelic, Irish and Tuetonic deities, as well.

What Mairwen said.......<G> Generally, a druid is assumed to follow a celtic path and so the pantheon would be a celtic one. There are slight differences between the different celtic nations, however. I have worked in mixed groups where compatible dieties were invoked for a group ritual, but the individuals didn't mix dieties in their own practice.

Oh gee. Thanks! I think. I guess. LOL!

Really? We're strict about mixing and not mixing deities. Certainly different tribes/clans had different names for the same deitic energies; however it's wise to do research to find out who is compatible/incompatible with whom within a given system. And mixing outside the pantheon is frowned upon. (this is for us, of course)

The Grove I belong to is very small, some are Asatru the rest celtic pagans (read Scot inclined!) Since the cultures mixed it's felt that it's not too far outside the lines to include some Norse dieties in some rituals with the celtic--that's as far as the mixing goes.

Maggie

Our Grove worships only those of the Celtic pantheon(s?). So far it is mainly of the Irish and Welsh Families, but if Others (Gods of various Celtic tribes) decide to join, who are we to argue? :D

Welcome to the boards, Keely! And I know what you mean! In meditation three years ago, I was visited by a South American Goddess (Tlatzecoatl, but I wouldn't swear I spelled her name right!). Tripped me out because 1) I didn't have a clue who she was or where she'd come from 2) I wasn't sure she was a goddess, but she felt like one 3) It took me two years to find out who she was!

Oh, okay... but my question was really about mixing Celtic pantheons up. Not about Norse, Greek, Roman, Egyptic, etc. Gods, they're not really 'druid' Gods.

Thanks for replying, everyone!

Brightest Blessings!

You can't "mix up" the Celtic Pantheon. It's the only Celtic Pantheon there is.  Certainly research your deities to see whose attributes complement whoms, yanno. But this is entirely different from mixing and matching from outside the pantheon.

Mairwen, I'm talking about mixing the regional Celtic Pahteons , like the Irish, for example, with the Scottish.

I'm not, like, totally mentally blunt, or anything, mmkay? :D

Brightest Blessings!

Yeah, and like I said: read my response just above this one. ;)
