Personally, I root for the bulls.

Could be worse. They could be stuck in a feedlot somewhere not able to turn around being filled up with hormones to become your next McBurger.

In Puerto Rico we have a similar tradition, rooster fights. I personally dissagree with that, I think it is cruel. But, some people like it.

A man is vacationing in Madrid, and he goes into the local restaurant and asks for their specialty.
The waiter brings him what looks like two large, spherical meatballs. Feeling adventurous, he takes a bite -- they're delicious.
"Waiter, what is this?"
The waiter responds, "Well, senor, this is our greatest delicacy -- the testicles of the bull that lost in today's bullfight!"
The man is a little dismayed, but the testicles are so tasty that he not only cleans his plate, he comes back every night that week and orders the same thing!
On the fifth night, his meal looks a little different - the meatballs are not quite as big, and are a slightly different color. But he eats them anyway, and they are every bit as delicious.
He calls the waiter over. "Excuse me, but I notice that your specialty looks and tastes a bit different tonight. Why is that?"
The waiter responds, "Well senor... the bull does not always lose."

heeheehee..good one..as to the running of the bulls, why any one would want to put themselves in front of a herd of upset, angry bulls is beyond me! They deserve to get stomped on for being that stupid. As to bullfighting, there is a grace and beauty to the fight, but there is also incredible brutality and cruelty. I really can't condone injuring or killing any creature for entertainment.

Its about like some of these sport hunters that go out, kill a deer, and take the trophy of antlers. What a waste. I actually know someone that the only meat is stuff they hunt themselves.

I'm actually a little crazy and always wondered what it would be like to participate in Pamplona. But like I said I'm crazy :yikess:

Anters make wonderful knife handles, and deer meat is actually very tasty. Like beef, but little to NO fat at all. But Ill quiet down before I start parading the wonders of deer. :)

There is a kind of primal appeal to running in front of charging bulls. It's another one of those trial by ordeal things, in a way. Anything that pushes you to a dangerous limit is something you can walk away from with a lesson. (Not to say you have to be in danger to learn a lesson... but it does tend to help.)

Personally, I think that the running of the bulls is a beautiful and intreguing tradition. Just because you disagree with it, or should I say, a mass of you disagree with it, that does not make it "stupid". :) Simply "disliked".

Considering what the bull run stands for, I stick by my decision to think of it as stupid. Sorry, but I think we have evolved enough now to not rely on antagonizing or treating animals cruelly for entertainment. *shrugs*

Absolutely! We've evolved enough that we can now rely on antagonizing or treating HUMANS cruelly for entertainment!
See "Fear Factor" or other "reality" shows.

*sigh* Yeah. Maybe we haven't evolved as much as I'd like to think, huh? :D
Well, I'd rather see the humans as the entertainment. At least they choose to be there.

I figure that we're just a few years away from "The Running Man". Remember that movie?

Oh yeah. Somewhere in another thread - I think it was the "Striperella" one - I said I wouldn't be surprised if the idea was at least proposed.
