my mom, husband and I had to make the decision to put my 16 1/2 yr old dog to sleep tonight....she collapsed by my moms garage...the neighbor took them to the animal hospital and we met them up there...they said that she developed this disease that her stomach was bloating and then twisting....she was in a lot of pain...even after they sedated her....we were in the room when they gave her the shot...it was very difficult to go through....my parents are divorced and both me and my sister are out of the house now, so my dog was the only thing my mom had to go home to every day....we're all taking it pretty rough....if some of you could light a candle, or say a prayer...anything for our family, it'd be greatly appreciated.....I'm 22 and we got her when I was 6...I can remember the entire day of when we got her...so you can imagine how difficult this is....I appreciate your thoughts and prayers...especially for my mother who is very alone right now.....thanks again....

So Be It
I have had to do this sad task on more than one occasion and understand all to well what you are feeling. I cannot begin to speak the words that would be appropriate.

thanks so much Blue...it just helps to know that you saw my post and are thinking of us...I don't expect anyone to have anything insightful to say....there isn't anything TO say to make something like this easier...just to know that people are keeping us in their thoughts helps more than you know....thanks again Blue

You, your family and your mom are in my thoughts.
I've lost some beloved pets in my time, and they aren't 'just' animals, they are family members.
I'll say a prayer and light a candle for you all when I get home.

I know exactly how you feel right now. We had to put one of our cats down a few weeks ago. Dria El posted a really nice poem, "The Rainbow Bridge" for me. It is in the Pagan Family forum, under the thread, I am really being Challenged. It is beautiful.
I will be thinking of you, your dog and your mom. I wish there was something I could say to make you feel better...

Oh, I am sitting here crying my eyes out... I know this is a very hard time for you all now, it always is... My boyfriends family had to put their dog to sleep a couple of weeks ago, and I know it is very very hard to do, there is a piece of yourself that dies... My thoughts and prayers are with you all, and a candle is burning for all of you.
Blessed be all of you, may the goddess grant you the strength you need for the nearest time to come... may her light shine upon you to make your days easier...

Elaine,
My heart felt sympathies are with you. I also had to do the same with my dog of 15 years. There is never a week that goes by that I don't think of Sparky (who looked like Petey from the Little Rascals). He was such a great dog to grow up with. And, is buried in his most favorite place, at the base of the Weeping Willow Tree by his river where he used to swim and catch fish in the backyard. And, we wrapped him in his favorite blanket. Your dog must have had a grand full life of 16 years, that is wonderful to be able to have your dog that long. My thoughts are with you!

thank you all for your kind words....I know that all of your prayers are helping....(if we weren't being prayed for like we are, I'd still be crying uncontrollably!!) my mom is having her creamated and keeping her....she didn't want her to be put into a community grave or Goddess knows what....I'm glad she made that decision...that dog never left our side, she was meant to be with us and so my mom is keeping her where she was happiest...in our house!! thanks again for everything....it will not be forgotten!! *HUGS*
