I didn't see a thread about this, but was wondering if anyone else's pets "participate" in their rituals. I barely get my altar set-up for ritual before the cats have moved in and made themselves comfortable. They seem to recognize when I am preparing for ritual and actually anticipate the whole experience. Last night I had 6 cats camped out under the altar (and it is a small altar) all happily purring away waiting for me to start. They insist on "lending a helping paw" any time I do any sort of ritual, devotion, or preparation for magical workings.

Our cat likes it too. He will walk in and out of the circle Gareth and I cast... we get a kick out of it. He will also "tell" me it's time to stop meditating by rubbing up against me. He likes to participate in Tarot readings by sitting on my cards so I can see them better. :D

My little black kitty, Rascal, helps out all the time. She has a real feel for magick, and can sense when I'm doing any sort of spellwork or ritual from all the way across the house! The poor thing wants so much to help out, but she has chronic brain farts, and her energy is all wacked out. Ah well, I love her anyway!

Yes! My buddy will sit next right next to me and candle gazes! He always goes nutz when I read tarot and once I even let him choose the cards.

My dog won’t let anyone in the room. He guards the door. I’ve not taught or asked him to do this. Maybe he just wants the water and other offerings to the Netjer when I’m done. Yeah, that’s it.

Funny. My pup always seems to know when I’m going to perform a ritual. She just goes off and sleeps in her spot. And when I’m done she gets up and sits by my legs until I pick her up.

One of my cats doesn't participate in rituals, but he does love to hang out in the room I have set aside for meditation. He gets a very serene look on his face when he's in there.

I just dug up this old thread and had to post because my cat is soooooo into the candle/meditation thing, it's scary. For real, though, it is scary, because she insists on getting right up in the middle of the candle setup I have on my front porch, and she has come VERY close to catching her long hair on fire...I don't want to make her leave, because the energy vibe is more intense when she's around (see her meditation photo in my album!) but I am afraid she'll get burnt! :deviltail

Well, we won't go into the time I chased Arlyss around the room trying to put out his flaming tail will we? He strolled by and got just a bit to close and "fffftttttttt" suddenly he's strolling along with his tail on fire. Luckily, those occurances have been rare. Mostly, everyone just gathers round and adds their energy to what I'm doing. Suprisingly, my husky fit right in from the first...of course, she does come and sit next to me for the "simple feast" I conclude formal rituals with......very subtle "hint" she should be included in the "cakes and ale". I do have to be careful not to tread on any paws or tails when I'm casting my circle or taking it down....

my newest kitty gets locked out of the room when the candles are lit, because he doesn't seem to understand that flame=bad. he does pick out gemstones for me (i have a couple of bowls of various loose gemstones) every once in a while when he gets on my altar and drops them in different places. i find them and they almost always have something to tell me. the last one i found was on the floor beside me while i was meditating, and i put my hand down on it and all the sudden started journeying... i looked when i was finished and the thing is distinctly foot shaped. fitting huh? so now i have a journey stone, thanks to my kitty.

hmmmm.... Olivia is quite happy to sit in the middle of the altar and paw the crystals while I do any ritual. She has a special passion for my pendulum. I've caught her on more than one occasion hauling it through the house like a prize possession.

if i'm praying or meditating at my altar, my cat will occasionally come and sit on the end of my bed (which is nearby). That's as close as she wants to be. She'll also sit on the pillow i have at the foot of my altar to kneel on. It's covered in cat hair now. I've seen her sleep there for days. Apart from that, she doesn't really seem interested.

Obviously though she finds the energies surronding your altar quite attractive and comfortable. I've given up keeping an altar permanently set up because the cats love to loll and snooze on it..which unfortunately means that things like candles and bowls get knocked off onto the floor to make room for cat bodies.
