what does it mean when the moon is red? I'm sure this has been discussed previously, but I tried to search and it didn't work. Ever since I was little the red moon used to make me feel really creepy, like something bad was going to happen. I just thought I would ask and maybe stop by the bookstore tomorrow. :)

*chuckles* I think it means that there's too much pollution in the atmosphere. So bad, yes. ;)

I don't know where you live, but here, the moon has been red for a while and it is pollution, smoke moving from the fires out west.

Good gods!... The only time I ever saw a red moon was because it was a partial lunar eclipse... never knew too much pollution could make it look red...

I have read that a red moon is the second new moon in a calendar month, just as a blue moon is the second full moon in a calendar month.

I cannot find any actual reference to this and cannot find or remember where I actually red it in the first place.

The second new moon is called a black moon, I thought.

Just because a blue moon is called "blue moon" doesn't mean the moon actually looks blue. In this case, the moon is actually appearing to be red. :)

I have only ever seen a red moon in times of bad bush fires so it freaks me out a little.

Just one more thing to add to this. I went to take a peek at my Lunabar before shutting down, and noticed this little bit of moon lore;

When the moon rises red and appears large, with clouds, expect rain in twelve hours.

Ooh, the funny thing is...it DID rain in about 12 hours that night. :) coincidence or not...I'd rather think about lore than pollution. :(
