Shy Hawk
June 9th, 2001, 02:53 AM
I completely agree with armitage...that's a great guess.

Revelation

Me 3 :) Even though I have been quiet as of late..... I have a database on my website that I scour for information, as well as the Encyclopedia Mythica... This is a wonderful teaching/learning opportunity...

Revelation
June 9th, 2001, 11:42 PM
I am the VouDoun loa, the patroness of Abused Women, the giver of strength, often the patron of lesbians?

Tigerwallah
June 9th, 2001, 11:45 PM
The Encylopedia Mythica is a wonderful thing. With 10,000 names, who could possible remember, or even know, them all. I might be able to get up a list of about 100, after that, I'm lost.

Betty Ann Bongo

Revelation-- is it Juno?

Revelation
June 11th, 2001, 12:12 AM
Nay.
I will give you hint: I am a loa, so I belong to the Voodoo pantheon. I have several faces, and each faces has a specific name. For each of my faces, the first part of my name remains the same; it is only my second name that changes.

Erzulie?

"Erzulie in general is the ideal figure of delicate and and alluring womanhood. Her name appears to relate to the Serpent-Goddess Ezi-Aku worshipped in Northern Nigeria. She has many aspects known as "the Erzulies" which, in one way or other, always relate to the loa of love and beauty.
Erzulie La Flambeau burns with the fires of an overwhelming passion. Her rage rips at the fabric of existence. She is the torch that lights the way, burning through resistance. She is the final resting place for all such emotions. In her heart they flower, and in her actions they are spent. She is also the corn mother, and as such she is capable of creating the energy to transform base products into foods.
Erzulie Freda Dahomey is the Erzulie who walks upon or governs air from the sphere of emotions. Here, Erzulie is the virgin, which means she carries within herself a newness or freshness to experience. To be virgin is to be unmarked. In a deep sense, the longing of Erzulie mirrors that of the Visible World for its invisible counterpart and that of the Invisible World for the joys of the physical. "

And in response to my earlier post, Meamai is partly correct because they are also of Australian Aboriginal Myth, however, I was looking for The Makara. Different tribal myth I guess.

Hi Loopy, thanks for the welcome. Guess I better bake up a nice big rich oatmeal cookie for you (Or do you prefer brownies?) Because you got it. Tezcatlipoca it is.

An originally West African God. This is a poem about him, rather, a hym to him, fill in the blank. lol...I'm such a dork.
Shy Hawk

(BLANK) kills on the right and destroys on the right.
(BLANK) kills on the left and destroys on the left.
(BLANK) kills suddenly in the house and suddenly in the field.
(BLANK) kills the child with the iron with which it plays.
(BLANK) kills in silence.

(BLANK) kills the thief and the owner of stolen goods.
(BLANK) kills the owner of the house and paints the hearth with his blood.

(BLANK) is the forest god.
He gives all his clothes to the beggars.
He gives one to the woodock--who dyes it in indigo.
He gives one to the coucal--who dyes it in camwood.
He gives one to the cattle egret--who leaves it white.

(BLANK'S) laughter is no joke.
His enemies scatter in all directions.
The butterflies do not have to see the leopard . . .
they scatter in all directions!

Master of iron, chief of robbers,
you have water, but you bathe in blood.
The light shining in your face is not easy to behold.
(BLANK), with the bloody cap, let me see the red of your eye.

(BLANK) is not like pounded yam:
do you think you can knead him in your hand
and eat of him until you are satisfied?
Do you think (BLANK) is something you can throw into your cap
and walk away with it?

(BLANK) is a mad god
who will ask questions after seven hundred and eighty years.
(BLANK) have pity on me:
whether I can reply, or whether I cannot reply:
(BLANK) don't ask me anything!

The lion never allows anybody to play with his cub.
(BLANK) will never allow his child to be punished.
(BLANK) do not reject me!
Does the woman who spins ever reject a spindle?
Does the woman who dyes ever reject a cloth?
Does the eye that sees ever reject a sight?
(BLANK), do not reject me.
