View Full Version : Tarot Parties

Okay everyone! For those who want to participate....I think Emerald had a great idea about throwing a Tarot Party although I think her party was an impromtu one!.

(this way you get practice in)

IDEA: You get a group of friends/family together, (in one place) and do short, small 3-7card layout Tarot readings (these last from 10-30 minutes approximately. ) You can be the host, or have a friend host it and supervise. and it's always nice to read the host for free. Friends and family can bring a friend, if you don't know many that would be interested. (let them recuit clients for you!) Offer a light snack/munchies and beverages for those waiting and chatting.

COST: The only forseeable cost is the food and beverages.

PAYMENT: You can choose to do free readings or charge between 5-15 dollars. (pending on the size of the spread and the average amount of time it takes you to read) You might want to require a certain amount of people to be present so you make decent $$ for the time you put in. ....example: require 10 people (excluding host) to attend the party, and charge say...$10/reading. There's a hundred dollars in your pocket for a day's work.

If you don't feel comfortable enough to charge yet, you don't have to. Let them know that you are learning and need the practice. Make sure you also tell them that you are reading only one possible outcome....decisions made along the way may alter the outcome also.

SCHEDULING: Readings should be planned at least 20 minutes apart.

THE READING: You should have a comfortable table to sit at and a nice cushy chair for you and the person you are reading for. (a card table works great!) Cover the Reading area with a laycloth, or a nice table cloth (IMHO the darker the better...it makes the cards stand out) Solid colors are better.... prints are usually distracting and take away from the reading. (Unless you have a special laycloth like I do, it has celestial items printed on it...moon and stars...but I still like to use a solid color, no design type cloth when I do many readings at a time.)

Give the querant a pen and the Tarot worksheet that can be found at here...

http://www.angelfire.com/mi3/BashaCoves/Tarot.html

This way, they can write down the reading and anything else you may tell them. Plus it's just a nice momento and they can show friends! Just make sure after you print it off to put your name and phone number on it so they can contact you for future readings, or throwing a party themselves!

Have a supply of candles handy. I find it to be a very nice setting if you have 2 candles lit while reading, one on your left side and one on your right. (I prefer white candles, truth and purity of reading) but it's a matter of choice....what ever color helps set the mood and gets you to the state of mind you need to be in.

Between readings, get something to drink, and a little something to nibble on. This will help keep your energies where they need to be.

So, if you would like to do this, we would all love to hear how it goes!

If you have any questions, let me know! :D

I do this and charge $10 for 15 minutes and let the individuals pay me directly. You can get on a roll; I did 12 readings one night- quite enough to make your head spin if you're not prepared for it.
Also, I have found that doing it in a room away from the party part of the gatherng will be in your better interest- especially if the participants get noisy while waiting their turn! I never read a person in front of a roomful of people since not all issues that come up will be something a person wants a group of people to necessarily hear!
P.S. - get business cards printed and hand two or three or to everyone that you read for- have them give them to other friends!

Great suggestions! Thank you Tarotbear!

I wouldn't read for another in a room full of people either. (I, falsely assumed that everyone would understand that....as you have to be in the proper mind set, with plenty of concentration to do a reading.) :)

Business cards.....thanks TB!

Oh I think it would be great if you have some friend that have some other divination talents, then you could almost have your own little "Psychic Fair"!

You know, someone who reads the Runes, Crystal Ball, Tarot, Tea Leaves, Pendulums, Energy Readers.....etc! They can then compare notes about all the readings they got....should give a great view of what's happening with them...and what's yet to come! I think that would be great fun! Then make up flyers and post them around town, or just have the people involved invite three people that are sure to come....and ask each of the three to invite at least 2 people and on and on! lol ....just a thought~! ;)

Have some business cards made up, so each reading they get, they get a business card on how to contact that person for futher readings, and to send business their way.

This is a really cool suggestion Dagda :D & thanks so much for the link ~ the worksheet is really helpful and a great idea instead of a tape.
Im going to give all my friends a ring tonight and see if they want to have one :) I dont think Ill be charging but accepting food and drinks ;) It should be a blast!

How did your one go? ;)

Mine is still in the works! lol I'm so busy here and there! lol

Last night I did 3 level 2 Reiki attunements, plus worked on that Announcement thread!

I have tons of ideas, it's just trying to find the time to do this and making a list of those I would like to invite! :D <....and working up the confidence and courage! ;)> On line, I'm fine....in-person, sometimes I just feel like a fraud! lol I know better, and I'm working on facing that fear! :D So, hopefully I can have a party before I go to Florida for the Autumn Meet Festival in November! :D I'll let you know how it goes though!

Its scarey telling someone there past, present or future if you know them or not! .. I dont think friends or strangers are any easier.. maybe strangers because then you dont have the emotional attachment.. I find past and present easy but everyone wants to know there future.. thats where it gets hard and you feel the pressure I find... but as you said its not written out in stone and they think it is...

Your ideas about business cards and having a big party are brilliant! Ive got a few friends here that read tarot and one thats really good at the runes and the Crystal ball so I will have a good think where we could do it and maybe get my butt in gear and organise something for November too (before Christmas for extra money for us all). :) We should support eachother on this and egg eachother on.. I need a big push!

Ive just thought ~ if your crafty (as in the arts and crafts ;)) You could make tarot cards for Christmas and New Year and sell these too or give one away with the reading to make it more special.. even attach the worksheet into the card! .. also bookmarks... pendants.... hmm can anyone else think of anygood little gifts we could make out of tarot? :)

Ohh Im all excited.. and nervous now :p

It does sound like a fun and good idea!

Dagda, the link for the 'Tarot worksheet' is not online any more...
Would you happen to have a copy of it that can be posted here, for us late comers?

I tried to click on the link in the first post that Dagda Moon~Lily put up for layouts...and it gave a 403 error. Something about Not authorized to view this website. :( . Other than that, it does sound like fun

Seeing if this opens the worksheet I have stored.....

Nope - says I have 'invalid extensions'. If I knew what to best change it to...? It's currently in MSWord97.

Here's a new link to the worksheet:

Sorry about the previous bad-form! I only use these forms for the client to make notes on. I know when I walk way from a reading, I've had trouble remembering everything said! ;)

Have fun! :D
