Went to the gay pride picnic with my family today and had a blast. There are really some great people running that show. Anyway, I just wanted to post and say if you have a chance to go and show your support in your areas...please do.

I have many friends who are gay, and have gone to gay pride parades and block parties... I fully support gay pride activities.

I will, but there aren't any nearby now because I live in a really small town, and crossing disctances here in Belgium isn't the same as crossings distances in the US. Next time when I'm in college I will.

Just to expound on Mol's post:
We had a great time!!! The director of PFLAG Houston was here and spoke a little. He was excellent. He is, incidentally, a Methodist minister. He made a few comments about the way the methodist church has practiced spiritual violence against homosexuals. He stated that he was ashamed of his fellow clergy and he prophosized that soon the church would be the moral minority and that all the truly moral, loving people would make thier way out of institutions that teach intolorance and hatred.
I really enjoyed his speech. Great man with a true vision for acceptance in his lifetime.
Also we talked with some folks from a group called SoulForce that is an activist group of sorts that protests, nonviolently, religious discrimination based on sexuality and gender preference. This is a topic that we will be embracing here at MW. We will be linking to thier sites and do encourage all of you to offer any support you can to thier cause.
I believe that the members of this community can very well relate to the discrimination these folks have faced in the area of spirituality. I think that we, as a community, can make some sort of difference. Lets band together and see what we can do to help our brothers and sisters.

I'm an active member of the Akron (ohio) Pride Center and I have had members of PFLAG come to speak at school presentations. Needless to say, I'm active in the community. I enjoy it.
It's good to be diverse, ya know? lol I'm glad to see that people are so accepting of other ways of life.

If I had a little more time to actually breathe I would be more active...I am very sorry that I can't be....i think linking to the SoulForce sites is a wonderful idea!!! it's nice to see that there ARE people in this world that will protest against prejudice.....it's seems there's so many that are discrimaniting that there's no one left protesting against it!!!

well i was working down the block from the pride parade in NYC a few years back... and I have to say... it was REALLY fun and the only people who attempted to cause a problem were some religious fanatics but the police put like twelve barracades around them... so they didn't get to protest much at all...
very cool stuff that parade is... so much fun :D
