I just have a quick question for you guys in Tarot. I have a deck of Tarot cards and it's a Faerie deck. I don't have any real experience using Tarot cards, so you would suggest getting a different, more traditional deck to start with? I can't remember the particular name of the deck that I'm thinking of right now, but if I can remember, I'll post it.

The Rider-Waite deck is very popular with beginners, but I would say go with the deck that you personally feel drawn to. If that's the Faerie deck, then that's probably the one you'll have the best results with. :)

I agree with Loopy. If you are drawn to the deck, you'll probably have better readings with them. Many people don't relate well with the Rider/Waite decks and find it VERY difficult to learn to read with them.....takes them a long time to learn them.

I used the Rider Waite's to learn on, it was the first deck that I bought. I learned alot from them....but I fell in love with the Robin Wood tarot ....which is a similar deck, but more pagan in style. I find I read easier with them.

To learn to read with the deck you have, if they aren't based off Rider/waite deck....most of the lesson here probably won't exactly match up with your cards. I would take a card a day, "hop into the picture as the person shown" and ask yourself, what are they doing, how do they feel....what's happening around them...then you will have a better understanding of your own deck....and have your own interpretations to work from.....which in the end is what you'll be doing anyways. :D

If you have any other questions....feel free to ask....we'll help anyway we can! ;)

The Whimsical Tarot is my favorite! It's not exactly a "traditional" deck but because it's based on fairy tales and nursery rhymes that you probably heard as a kid, it's very easy to read. I went thru a ton of decks until I found The Whimsical Tarot. Haven't used another deck since.

The Faerie Tarot (if it's the same one that I'm thinking of) is very pretty but a little difficult for someone just starting to read.

Mary Hansen-Roberts also has a deck that's more traditional but it show the expressions on the faces a lot more than Rider-Waite. And I like that about her deck. She's also the artist that did the Whimsical Tarot.

Well ... that's my story and I'm sticking to it! ;)
